LaLiga release heartbreaking statement as match forced to be abandoned after fan dies

A Spanish second-tier football match was forced to be abandoned after a fan collapsed in the stands and died.
The supporter fell ill after 18 minutes, prompting officials to pause play between Cueta and Almeria.
Red Cross Paramedics attended the scene to provide treatment for around 10 minutes, including doing CPR.
The 73-year-old man was carried out of the Alfonso Murube Stadium on a stretcher, where he was taken to the hospital.
Supporters of both clubs came together to give applause.
The match, which was 1-0 to the home side when play was halted, continued with Almeria’s Adri Embarba netting the equaliser in the 37th minute.
At halftime, it was confirmed the supporter had passed away, with local media identifying him as Manolo Carreto, a former chief of police.
With the score level, the referee decided to call the Segunda Division match off after discussions between the clubs and the officials.

The news was announced to the ground over the PA system.
Both clubs and the league released statements following the game, confirming that a new date will be found to play the second half.
LaLiga posted: "The match between @ADCeuta_FC and @U_D_Almeria has been suspended due to the tragic death of a fan at the Alfonso Murube stadium."
"LaLiga extends its condolences to his family, friends, and the entire AD Ceuta fanbase. The new date will be announced shortly."

Ceuta wrote: "We deeply regret the passing of one of our fans during the course of the match against UD Almeria.
"We send all our support and affection to the family and friends of the deceased. Rest in peace."
Almeria added: "UD Almeria deeply regrets the death and sends its most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends. Rest in peace."
