The former Liverpool manager is back in the rumour mill

Jurgen Klopp's agent has categorically denied reports linking the former Liverpool manager with a shock return to management at Roma.

Italian newspaper La Stampa had claimed Klopp was set to take over at the Serie A club, where Claudio Ranieri is due to move into an upstairs role at the end of the season.

However, Klopp's representative Marc Kosicke has firmly dismissed these rumours, telling WinWinAllSports: "Klopp coaching Roma? This news is not true."

The 57-year-old German left Liverpool last year after nine successful years at Anfield, citing exhaustion and a desire to step away from the daily pressures of club management.

La Stampa has since backtracked on its own report, acknowledging that the newspaper had misinterpreted a video published by Roma and incorrectly taken it as a signal of Klopp's impending arrival.

The confusion appears to have stemmed from content released by the Italian club that was misconstrued by the publication.

Ranieri, who has given Roma a fighting chance of Champions League football with one game remaining in the Serie A season, will indeed be moving upstairs, but as the club's sports advisor rather than making way for Klopp.

The German manager remains committed to his current role away from club management.

Klopp began his role as Red Bull's Global Head of Soccer in January this year, with a contract that runs until 2029.

This position came after he stepped away from Liverpool, where he had admitted he was "running out of energy" when announcing his departure in January 2024.

As part of his new responsibilities with Red Bull, Klopp has already travelled to Japan and Brazil, with the energy drinks company owning football teams across Europe, as well as in New York.

The position allows him to remain involved in football but without the intense day-to-day pressures of club management that had led to his Liverpool exit.

When Klopp announced his Liverpool exit last year, he cast doubt on returning to management, stating: "If you ask me, 'Will you ever work as a manager again?' I would say now no."

He specifically ruled out managing another English club, saying: "I will never, ever manage a different club in England than Liverpool."

The German became a grandfather recently, which factored into his decision to step away from the Anfield dugout.

Last year, Klopp indicated he was content with his reduced workload, saying: "I don't miss anything.
