Jamie Carragher delivered a televised apology to Mohamed Salah during CBS Sports' Champions League broadcast on Tuesday evening, though the former Liverpool defender tempered his contrition with a pointed message.
Fellow pundit Micah Richards prompted the moment, urging Carragher to address the Egyptian star directly.
"Would you like to apologise to Mo, and just say sorry for any disrespect? It just come from passion, you're a fan, go on, just say it down the lens," Richards suggested.
Carragher obliged, stating: "Mo, I apologise I've upset you. I love you as the Liverpool player, but you just need to behave yourself off the pitch."

The apology followed Carragher's scathing assessment of Salah on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football programme.
During that broadcast, Carragher had described Salah's fiery post-match remarks following Liverpool's 3-3 draw at Leeds United as "a disgrace" and questioned whether the forward would feature for the club again.
The former defender accused Salah of calculated timing, claiming the Egyptian's rare media appearances were orchestrated for maximum impact.
"I think whenever Mo Salah stops in a mixed zone, which he's done four times in eight years, it's choreographed with him and his agent to cause maximum damage and strengthen his own position," Carragher argued.

Mohamed Salah insisted Liverpool had 'thrown him under the bus' during an incendiary interview at the weekend
| PAHe suggested Salah had deliberately waited for a poor result before speaking out, choosing the moment when "supporters, the manager, everyone at the club feels like they are in the gutter."
Salah was conspicuously absent from Liverpool's squad for their Champions League fixture against Inter Milan at the San Siro, with manager Arne Slot opting to exclude him following the controversial interview.
The Reds secured a narrow 1-0 victory courtesy of Dominik Szoboszlai's 88th-minute penalty.
Carragher expressed particular relief at the result for Slot's sake, acknowledging the turbulent period the manager had endured.
"I was so desperate for Liverpool to win tonight, as I am every time Liverpool play, as you know. More so for the manager, for what he has been through in the last few days," he remarked.
The pundit noted that travelling supporters had chanted Slot's name even before the breakthrough goal, demonstrating their backing during the difficult spell.

Richards appeared satisfied with Carragher's gesture, extending his hand for a handshake and remarking: "That's fair, that looked very genuine."
Whether Salah will return to Liverpool's squad for Saturday's Premier League encounter with Brighton at Anfield remains uncertain, with the forward due to depart for Africa Cup of Nations duty with Egypt on 15 December.
