Supporters watching the programme took to social media to express their frustration after noticing a substantial error in ITV's coverage

ITV committed a significant broadcasting error during their English Football League Highlights programme on Easter Monday, failing to show viewers the decisive goal in Huddersfield's victory over Leyton Orient.

Ryan Ledson netted the winner in extraordinary circumstances, scoring in the 16th minute of added time to secure all three points for the Terriers.

Hugh Woozencroft presented the highlights show, but audiences were left bewildered when the crucial moment was entirely omitted from the broadcast coverage of the League One encounter.

The blunder extended beyond the missing footage, with ITV displaying an incorrect final score of 1-1 on screen rather than the actual 2-1 result.

Ledson's dramatic late intervention came after his teammate Bojan Radulovic had drawn Huddersfield level earlier in the contest.

The Terriers had fallen behind when Leyton Orient's Radinio Balker put through his own net during the first half.

It gave the visitors an unexpected advantage before Radulovic's equaliser set the stage for the remarkable conclusion.

One social media user said: "The EFL need to find better guardians for TV highlights than this awful ITV programme.

"Today, they completely missed Huddersfield’s winner at Orient, announcing that the game had finished 1-1 instead. Absolutely pathetic."

Another wrote: "Everything about ITV’s coverage of EFL highlights is absolutely shocking.

"It is such a shame when there was clearly a lot of love and effort put in by BBC with Manish Bhasin hosting and even Quest with Colin Murray and guests."

A third added: "Genuinely give the BBC the Football League Show back with Manish Bhasin hosting it again.”

A fourth noted: “That is absolutely outrageous from ITV. Give it to someone who cares.

"The BBC did a great job but was on at midnight. Quest had a superb host and actually gave some decent analysis.

"Something needs to change because the ITV coverage is worse than amateur."

The victory leaves Huddersfield positioned three points behind the League One play-off places as they push for promotion.

Meanwhile, Leyton Orient find themselves in a precarious position.

They sit just four points above the relegation zone despite reaching the Championship play-off final the previous season.

The Terriers are currently operating without manager Liam Manning, who remains on compassionate leave until the campaign concludes.
