Inter Milan and Barcelona have served up a Champions League classic

Footballs fans have been rubbing their eyes in amazement after an incredible 90 minutes served up by Inter Milan and Barcelona at the San Siro on Tuesday night.

After an enthralling 3-3 draw in Spain last week, which included stunning goals from Lamine Yamal and Marcus Thuram, the two European juggernauts were back at it again in their Champions League tie.

Hosting Barcelona, Inter Milan might have considered themselves slight favourites - especially after taking a two-goal lead through Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu.

There was controversy after Martinez was found to have been fouled in the box by Pau Cubarsi after VAR intervened, a decision Arsene Wenger furiously disputed.

That came on the stroke of half-time - but the game turned on its head after the break as all hell broke loose.

First, Barcelona halved the deficit after a stunning finish from Eric Garcia minutes into the second half before Dani Olmo made it 2-2 on the night.

With three minutes on the clock, Raphinha thought he won it for Barcelona after lashing in a rebounded shot from his own effort that was saved by Yann Sommer.

The Brazilian must have thought the Ballon d'Or was already on his mantlepiece - but minutes later there was more drama.

But an unlikely hero popped up in Francesco Acerbi, who at 37 years old found himself in the Barca box.

As Denzel Dumfries cut the ball back to the defender, the Italian executed a fantastic shot from close range to score his first ever European goal.

And what a time to score it, in the 93rd minute, as the match went to extra-time.

Davide Frattesi then put Inter ahead in extra-time to send the San Siro into a frenzy with players and substitutes alike bundling one another in the Italian rain.

Fans have been left stunned by what they have seen after a total of 13 goals across two legs in what many are considering one of the greatest Champions League ties of all time.
