England booked their place in the World Cup with the win on Tuesday night

England striker Harry Kane has revealed he gave a crucial team talk to his teammates in the build-up to the Latvia World Cup qualifier match, in which England dominated, winning 5-0.

The Bayern Munich striker scored two goals before half-time as the Three Lions strolled into next year's World Cup with two games to spare.

Anthony Gordon and Eberechi Eze also got their names on the scoresheet, and Andrejs Ciganiks fumbled Djed Spence's cross into his own net to consign Latvia to an embarrassing home defeat.

After the game, the 32-year-old revealed: “After the Serbia game, I spoke to the group about building the momentum that we are feeling together. It is important to keep that ball rolling.

“There is still two big games in that November camp. Every moment counts - it is about building something special. We have been doing that over the last few camps.

“I think America next summer will be special, and we will feel that. Never take these moments for granted".

Reflecting on the game, Kane said: “It was a great game from us. I spoke before about building momentum. Another great camp - we can be proud to qualify with two games to spare - it's never as easy as it looks. Another tournament to look forward to.

“Qualifying with two games to go, zero goals conceded and playing some great football. We can only take care of the opposition in front of us and we have done that very well so far.

“I know Thomas [Tuchel] came out after the last game and said the fans were not great but I don't think you can criticise our away support ever.”

After the criticism from the last game, fans came out in force to show Thomas Tuchel what the support for the Three Lions is truly like, and after the game, he admitted, “I got a bit of stick in the first half and I was almost in every song. Well done, I take it, good sense of humour, I take it and accept it.”

“They had a reason today from the last comment and that is fair enough. It was creative and made me smile. It is British humour and I can take it, no harm done.

“The support today was brilliant and we are very sure the support in America will be brilliant. We need it as it makes such a difference for the players.

“We want to make the fans proud and happy, they should be happy to watch us and able to identify with the way we play.”

With two more qualification games left to go, the question now remains, what the German manager will do with his squad for the remaining games. Will he give new players a try, or will he keep up the strong momentum he has built in recent games?

Following the win, he confirmed, “Now we know we're qualified I'm not sure if this changes anything in the nomination process. Now is the moment to enjoy it, you can feel it in the dressing room. It's a very special moment and it's not a daily thing that we qualify for the World Cup and we did that today.

“Harry [Kane] just gave a speech where he said everyone will be ready to keep this going in November and no-one will take this for granted.

“Maybe it will give us the chance to try stuff, but we will stay competitive and we want to win both matches. We owe it to ourselves and owe it to our fans. We need to keep going and what we are building is very precious and we will keep building.”

Anthony Gordon scored his second goal in an England shirt and his first this year, and after the game, the 24-year-old was ecstatic, saying: “Amazing. It is something I have dreamed of as a kid. It probably didn't hit me until I got into the changing room and saw everyone celebrating.

“I think definitely my last three performances have been my best for England. I still feel like I can do more. If I want to be a top, elite world level winger, I have got loads more to do.
