The Red Devils won 2-1 on Sunday to finally record back-to-back Premier League victories under Ruben Amorim

Gary Neville has ripped into Liverpool star Milos Kerkez following the club's 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday, suggesting the left-back 'plays like a 10-year-old'.

The Reds had gone into their showdown seeking a return to winning ways after defeats to Crystal Palace, Galatasaray and Chelsea before the international break.

But United pulled off a shock victory at the home of their fierce rivals, with Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire netting to spark wild celebrations among the away fans.

For Ruben Amorim, it was a much-needed victory with the 40-year-old finally overseeing back-to-back league wins for the first time since his appointment 11 months ago.

Yet for Arne Slot, it was another nightmare day at the office - with pressure now mounting on the Dutchman as a result.

Neville, speaking on the Gary Neville podcast, has now ripped into Kerkez.

The left-back struggled to contain United's attacking players and hasn't set the world alight following his summer arrival from Bournemouth.

Neville said: The individual performances of Liverpool’s defenders and decision-making was really poor.

“The left-back has not settled in. I said on this podcast three weeks ago that he plays like a 10-year-old left-back. He’s all over the place.”

Kerkez wasn't the only Liverpool player to receive criticism from the Sky Sports pundit.

Mohamed Salah was also targeted, with the Egypt international woefully inconsistent compared to previous years.

The 33-year-old has netted just three times from 11 appearances across all competitions and is yet to strike up a rapport with Alexander Isak in attack.

Neville said: "There are questions being asked about him, whether it's his age, whether it's one season too many.

"But the strange thing in watching Salah is usually a player getting towards the end of his career, what you notice is the physical decline.

"I'm not seeing a physical decline - some of his sprints look quite sharp, he looks busy in the box.

"But crazy things like the ball comes to the back post... his technique on his kicking and his crossing, that's the thing that looks well off.

"There were a couple of moments today at the back post where you're thinking, 'that's not Mo Salah'.

"He had that moment where he dragged it really ugly towards the left of the post. That's just his technique.

"Mo Salah could probably play until he's 52 and have good technique, so that's the bit that's surprising me, the technical bit."

Jamie Carragher, also appearing on the podcast, admitted he felt it was time for Salah to be dropped from the team.

"It's a real conundrum for the manager and what he'll do. It's interesting that he brought him off," said the Liverpool legend.

"Jurgen Klopp used to bring him off a lot, that shows you in years gone by Mo Salah could have a poor game and be brought off even if he had a bit of extra energy and sharpness.

"We're at a stage now with Mo Salah where he shouldn't be playing every game, it shouldn't be a case of 'he's the first name on the team sheet'.

"It should be a case of 'yes, he's in your best team, he plays home games', but maybe you have to think about Liverpool have two away games, one in Europe, one at Brentford - I don't think he plays in both of them.

"We're at that stage now where Mo Salah shouldn't be a guaranteed starter next week."

Liverpool will be aiming to bounce back when they face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Wednesday (8pm). As for United, their next match is against Brighton on Saturday (5.30pm).
