The Red Devils could only draw at the City Ground on Saturday

Gary Neville has ripped into Manchester United star Benjamin Sesko, having been left unimpressed by the striker's display in the club's 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Red Devils entered the showdown at the City Ground hoping to continue their winning run after victories over the likes of Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton.

Yet United were forced to settle for a draw, with Casemiro and Amad Diallo on target as they narrowly avoided defeat.

It was frustrating for the fallen giants, who have now lost ground with Arsenal in the battle for the Premier League title.

And one player who toiled was Sesko, with the Slovenia international continuing to blow hot and cold following his summer arrival from RB Leipzig.

Neville, speaking on NBC Sports, said the 22-year-old was 'miles off it' and that the jury is 'still out' on him as he continues to adapt to life in his new surroundings.

"I’m no further forward with him, the jury’s still out," said the former United captain.

“He’s miles off it compared to the other forwards United brought in, like [Matheus] Cunha and [Bryan] Mbeumo.

“He looks awkward, his touch was off a few times when balls went over the top.

“For £80m, yes he’s young and still settling but you want to see something more.”

Sesko has scored twice for United since joining.

Those goals have come in matches against Brentford and Sunderland, though he's since failed to register in his club's last three league games.

Unfortunately for him, comparisons are already being made with Rasmus Hojlund.

The Denmark international arrived with high hopes in the summer of 2023, with the Red Devils declining the chance to pursue Harry Kane that year.

Yet Hojlund was loaned to Napoli in the summer after two years of underwhelming performances.

United are next in action against Tottenham on Saturday, with the north London giants currently struggling under Thomas Frank.

But Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim is convinced his team are heading in the right direction as they look to win a first league crown since the days of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

"We lost control for five minutes but in the past we’d have collapsed," he said after the Forest game.

“We played well overall, just lacked a bit of energy and when we’re at full power, we’re the better team."

Amorim also hailed Amad for coming to their rescue with a superb volley at the City Ground.

“Amad has huge talent and he’s growing fast."

“He can play in different positions and he’s improving every week.

"He just needs to be more consistent but he’s getting there.”

United's match with Tottenham will be their last before the international break.

They're due to face the likes of Everton, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Wolves and Bournemouth when the Premier League resumes again.
