A Bolivian footballer has died after being shot multiple times during a friendly match in Mexico.
Sergio Jauregui, who was seen as an 'idol' among local football fans in Mexico, was gunned down at 11am local time on Sunday, January 28.
Reports in Mexico state he was playing a friendly match in the Eusebio Jauregui neighbourhood.
It's said that Jauregui headed over to the bench during the match when a man approached him and 'shot him six times'.

The shooter reportedly fled the scene with emergency services arriving minutes later to attend to Jauregui.
But the 31-year-old is said to have died at the scene sparking a huge outcry on social media.
One of his former clubs, Atletico de San Luis Rey, took to social media to send their condolences to Jauregui's family and friends.
Their post read: "We regret the death of our former player and Captain Sergio Jauregui who defended the colours of our team in the past Tournament of the Suns.
"Our deepest condolences to his whole family.
"We appreciate how you defended our shield and how you left everything on the pitch game by game, that's why we will always carry you in our shield and heart.
"Many thanks to the 'Eternal Captain of Cuautla'.
"Rest in Peace Friend."

Jauregui made his professional football debut in 2010 for Mexican side Arroceros de Cuautla.
It's there where the Bolivian defender became a cult hero with local football fans, who labeled him as the 'Eternal captain of Cuautla'.

He retired from professional football in 2015, stepping back to help promote the sport for young children in his local neighbourhood.
Jauregui reportedly played for several semi-professional teams after retiring as a professional.
No suspects are understood to have been arrested following the death of the former Bolivian footballer.
