After confirming his move to Merseyside, the winger told EvertonTV: "I'm over the moon to have signed for Everton - It's massive for me, honestly. This is a great club, with great fans.

"As soon as I spoke to the manager, I knew there was only one place that I wanted to go. On social media, I've been flooded with messages from Everton supporters, so there's that side of it as well and that's another reason why I chose Everton.

"I want to say thank you to the fans for all of the messages I've had already. Thank you for all of the love and support. I hope I can repay you now and I'm sure I will."

Everton have confirmed the former Aston Villa star will wear the No18 next season.

Grealish explained his decision to sport the number: "There were other numbers but my two favourite English players ever are Wayne Rooney and Paul Gascoigne and I know they both wore number 18 here.

"So, as soon as I knew this deal was close, I had a look and number 18 was free, so that was perfect for me and it was the only number I was going to take from that point.

"I spoke to Wayne [Rooney] before I came here and I mentioned that to him – about the number 18 – so I hope he's happy as well!"

Grealish started his career at boyhood club Aston Villa, making 213 appearances for the Birmingham-based side and playing a crucial role in promotion back to the Premier League in 2019.

The 39-capped England international then made a £100million move to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

During his time at the Etihad, Grealish won three Premier League titles and a Champions League, playing a major role in the Cityzen's historic treble.

Everton boss Moyes, who had recently slammed the lack of transfer activity at the Merseyside club, expressed his delight on the deal.

"We welcome Jack to Everton, and we’re very pleased to have him on board," the former Manchester United boss said.

“I think we’re getting him at a good time because he’s experienced, he understands the Premier League, and we’re all fully aware of the levels he’s capable of performing to.

“I know Jack’s ambition is to get back into the England squad so hopefully we can help him achieve that over the course of the season.

“We’re all looking forward to working with him and providing a platform for him to show the best version of himself.”

Grealish joins at an exciting time for the club.

The new Premier League season marks the first year away from the iconic Goodison Park. Instead, the club will be playing on the docks, at the new state-of-the-art 52,000-seater Hill Dickinson Stadium, marking a new era for the Toffees.

After the appointment of Moyes, the club enjoyed a solid second half of the season. After spending the opening periods of the campaign struggling for goals under ex-boss Sean Dyche, Moyes steadied the ship to ensure the club finished in encouraging form.

Grealish follows Thierno Barry, who joined in a £27million deal from Villarreal, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea. The former Leicester man is said to have cost the club £28million.

Carlos Alcaraz, who was on loan at Merseyside last year, and exciting young full-back Adam Aznou also joined the club.
