It’s been a difficult summer for the Eagles, who learned their fate of demotion to the Conference League after a dispute with UEFA over multi-club ownership rules.
The decision, which saw Nottingham Forest replace them in the Europa League, took up the majority of chairman Steve Parish’s time this summer, meaning additions to the squad have been scarce.

Thomas Frank’s side have accelerated their efforts to sign the former QPR midfielder after James Maddison suffered an ACL injury ruling him out for the majority of the season.
The north London club had agreed a deal to sign Nottingham Forest talisman Morgan Gibbs-White, but he stayed and signed a new deal at the club instead.
Spurs feel a creative midfielder is a priority, and after receiving the green light from Eze’s camp, will start negotiating with Palace.

Bitter rivals Arsenal were also in the race for the midfielder’s signature, although they have fallen behind Spurs who now appear to have a clear run.
Spurs played their first competitive game under Frank on Wednesday evening, as they lost to European champions Paris Saint-Germain on penalties, but the performance was vastly improved from last season.
The addition of Eze into the midfield would undoubtedly add a significant amount of needed quality and depth with Champions League football looming.
Eze signed for Crystal Palace for £15million in 2020, and has made 168 appearances for the club since, becoming an integral member of the side and scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final in May - the club’s first piece of major silverware.
The London-born midfielder has also made 11 appearances for England since his move to Selhurst Park.
