Cristiano Ronaldo's son is being considered to join his dad's first-team squad next season.

In a potential father-and-son link-up, 15-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo Jr has been making steady progress through Al-Nassr's academy system.

The youngster, who turns 16 in two months' time, is being closely monitored by the Saudi Arabian side, who are weighing up his best pathways.

Ronaldo Jr, who recently trained with Real Madrid's under-16s, could be included in the first-team squad, according to Saudi Arabian media.

The youngster's training session raised the prospect of a future move to the Bernabeu, to potentially follow in the footsteps of his father.

Such a transfer would reunite the famous surname with the club where his father established himself as one of football's all-time greats during a glittering nine-year spell.

Ronaldo Sr remains the most prolific scorer in Real Madrid's history, having netted an extraordinary 450 times across 438 appearances for the club.

During his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, the 41-year-old Portuguese superstar collected 13 major trophies and cemented his status as perhaps the finest player ever to wear the famous white shirt.

His nine seasons in the Spanish capital saw him become synonymous with the club, establishing records that may never be surpassed.

The younger Ronaldo is capable of operating on either wing or centrally and has already spent time at two other clubs previously graced by his father's presence – Manchester United and Juventus.

Should a move to Madrid materialise, it would mark the fourth of his father's former employers where Ronaldo Jr has been registered.

Born in America, the youngster opted to represent Portugal at the international level, receiving his maiden youth call-up last May and making his bow against Japan at the Vlatko Markovic International Tournament before progressing to under-17 duty.

The young forward has since progressed through the age groups, earning six caps and netting his first goal for the under-16 team.

His grandmother was recently present in Croatia to watch him represent the Selecao, underscoring the family's enduring connection to Portuguese football.

Several other leading European clubs are also understood to be monitoring his progress.

Recently, his father acquired a 25 per cent stake in second-division side UD Almeria.

The Portuguese forward completed the deal through CR7 Sports Investments, a newly established division of his business portfolio.

"It has been a longtime ambition of mine to contribute to football, beyond the pitch," Ronaldo said at the time.

He added: "UD Almeria is a Spanish club with strong foundations and clear potential for growth. I look forward to working alongside the leadership team to support the club's next phase of growth."
