The 41-year-old helped Al-Nassr beat Al-Ahli on Wednesday night

Cristiano Ronaldo powered Al-Nassr to a vital 2-0 triumph over Al-Ahli on Wednesday evening, nodding home from a corner with just 14 minutes remaining, before mocking fans in his post-match interview.

The 41-year-old's decisive header opened the scoring before Kingsley Coman added a second goal in the closing stages to seal the win.

Wednesday's result proved fatal to Al-Ahli's championship aspirations whilst propelling Al-Nassr to an eight-point advantage atop the Saudi Pro League standings.

Although Al-Hilal could reduce that margin to five points should they win their outstanding fixture, Ronaldo's side remain firmly in control of the title race three and a half years into his Saudi adventure.

Following the final whistle, disgruntled Al-Ahli supporters attempted to needle the Portuguese superstar by making gestures referencing their club's back-to-back Asian Champions League victories.

The Jeddah-based outfit claimed continental glory in successive seasons, defeating Kawasaki Frontale and Machida Zelvia in the respective finals.

Al-Nassr, by contrast, have never lifted the Asian Champions League trophy, a fact the home fans were keen to emphasise.

Their attempts to get under Ronaldo's skin, however, fell flat given the veteran forward's own extensive collection of European honours accumulated during his time at the pinnacle of the game.

Ronaldo responded to the provocation with characteristic confidence during a post-match television broadcast.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner raised his hand to display all five fingers whilst declaring to cameras: "Five Champions [League titles] I have."

Grinning broadly, he reinforced his point by adding: "I have five!"

The Portuguese icon secured one of those European crowns during his spell at Old Trafford, with the remaining four coming during his trophy-laden tenure at the Bernabéu.

His retort served as a pointed reminder that few players in football history can match his continental pedigree, regardless of Al-Nassr's absence from Asian competition honours.

Beyond his quintet of Champions League medals, Ronaldo's illustrious career encompasses five Ballon d'Or awards and an extraordinary tally of 970 goals to date.

Despite these remarkable achievements, the absence of major silverware since arriving in Saudi Arabia has been a persistent source of irritation for the forward.

That drought could finally end in the coming weeks, with Al-Nassr requiring just four more league fixtures to clinch the championship.

Should Ronaldo's side maintain their composure through the run-in, the Portuguese legend will finally add Saudi Pro League glory to his unparalleled collection of honours.

Al-Nassr are next in action against Al Qadsiah on Sunday night (7pm).

Al Qadsiah will go into the clash on a high after a stirring 4-0 victory over Al-Riyadh last night.
