The England international was seen hobbling on Sunday during his side's goalless draw with Manchester City

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has refused to confirm if Bukayo Saka will be involved against Luton on Wednesday - but insists the winger is 'fine'.

The England international was forced off during the Gunners' goalless draw with Manchester City on Sunday.

Saka has been outstanding for Arsenal this term, scoring 13 goals and clocking up eight assists from 28 Premier League matches.

And Arteta has kept his cards close to his chest when quizzed on the 22-year-old at his pre-match press conference.

"He’s fine. We haven’t trained, just recovered," said the Spaniard.

"We have a short light session today to prepare the game and we’ll see if he’s in the best condition to start or not.

Gabriel Martinelli didn't start for Arsenal against City on Sunday, with Arteta preferring to go with Gabriel Jesus.

But Arteta has claimed the Brazil international is 'certainly' ready to face Luton.

"He is because he was available to play against a really tough opponent. He certainly is today," he said.

"We will train later and see how he is tomorrow."

Arsenal have been using many players in their squad this season as they hunt a first Premier League title since 2004.

And Arteta feels that's crucial, with the 42-year-old believing each and every player is capable of making a difference between now and the end of the campaign.

"We have discussed that. And being able to contribute in any possible way. We’re going to need everybody there," he said.

"That’s certainly something really important. They need to feel it.

"The best way to do that is to play minutes.

"We have to show that in training, be close to them and then keep doing it to earn the right to play."

One of Arsenal's big summer signings, Jurrien Timber, has been able to feature for the Gunners this term.

The 22-year-old, who arrived from Ajax, has been restricted to just one Premier League appearance.

Yet Arteta has now provided a positive update on the Netherlands international, saying he's 'not far off' a return.

"He’s doing very well. He’s back training. He’s not far off," said the Arsenal boss.

"The thing is that last step. We’re going to have to feel it now.

"I would say he’s got a good chance [of returning to action]."

In the absence of Timber, William Saliba and Gabriel have continued to strike up a strong centre-back partnership.

Both players were immense against City, managing to nullify the threat of Erling Haaland - who struggled to make his mark.

And Arteta has hailed the duo by saying: "Sometimes there is that chemistry between the two players to work with each other and it just flows.

"I think they’ve been really good.

"We’re going to be needing even more [against Luton]. It’s after two and a half days, when you see the games they haven’t won it’s really tough.

"We are not top so that means that we have missed certain points somewhere else."
