Bristol City head coach Liam Manning is taking a leave of absence following the tragic death of his newborn son, Theo John Manning.
The Championship club announced the news on Monday, expressing deep sadness at the passing of Manning's recently born child.
"Everyone at Bristol City Football Club is deeply saddened by the passing of Liam's recently born son Theo John Manning," the club said in a statement.
"We know that Bristol City's supporters and the wider football family will share their condolences and deepest sympathy with Liam, his wife Fran and his son Isaac during this difficult period."
The club announced that Manning's assistant, Chris Hogg, will take charge of all football duties during his absence.
Manning, 38, joined Bristol City in November 2023 after spells at MK Dons and Oxford United. He is known for his high possession and high-pressing style of football.

The club has not specified a timeframe for Manning's leave, stating only that he "will take a period of absence".
They have requested privacy for Manning and his family during this difficult time.
Hogg, who Manning brought with him from Oxford, will step into the role of stand-in manager for the Robins.

The football community has rallied around Manning and his family, with messages of support pouring in from across the sport.
Bristol City's local rivals, Bristol Rovers, expressed their condolences, stating: "Everyone at Bristol Rovers sends our love and sincerest condolences to Liam and the Manning family at this horrendously sad time."
Other clubs, including Plymouth Argyle, Norwich City, and West Bromwich Albion, also shared messages of sympathy.
Plymouth Argyle said: "Sending our love to Liam and his family at this terribly sad time."

Bristol City currently sit 16th in the Championship, with two wins, five draws, and two losses from their first nine games of the season.
Their next match is an away fixture against Middlesbrough on Saturday, which will mark Hogg's debut as head coach of a senior team.
