Manchester United, in recent years, have struggled with the focal point of their attack.

From ageing assets such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani, to gambles like Rasmus Hojlund and Anthony Martial, it's become somewhat of a problem for the fallen giants amid their drastic fall from grace.

Last summer, however, United made a signing they hoped would end that issue and usher in the return of the glory days.

Benjamin Sesko was lured to Old Trafford from RB Leipzig, with the Slovenia international brought in by Ruben Amorim. Viktor Gyokeres had, at first, been a priority target. Yet Amorim was willing to work with Sesko, who rejected the advances of Newcastle in order to don United's famous colours instead.

It has, however, been a mixed start to life in English football.

Sesko drew a blank on his debut against Arsenal after coming off the bench. Weeks later, he drew criticism for not taking one of the first penalties in the shootout as the fallen giants crashed out of the Carabao Cup to Grimsby.

Football fans lack patience these days. Gone are the days when a No 9 can move to a new country, a new environment, and get the time needed to be a success.

For players like Sesko, who cost a massive £73.7million, that brings added pressure and scrutiny.

Fast-forward to now, however, and the club's newest marksman is starting to look the real deal. Sesko has taken his time to arrive but, at long last, that moment seems to have come.

Prior to the clash with Palace, he'd scored off the bench in matches with the likes of Everton, West Ham and Fulham.

Calls for him to be unleashed from the start were growing in volume, with Michael Carrick finally granting supporters their wish on Sunday.

Sesko, in the early stages, struggled to get into the contest. Like many of his teammates, too.

Palace caused the famous arena to fall silent in the fourth minute, with Maxence Lacroix giving the visitors a well-deserved lead.

In the second-half, however, the defender would turn from hero to zero.

Lacroix received his marching orders for a foul on Matheus Cunha inside the box, with Bruno Fernandes then proceeding to convert from 12 yards. Suddenly, a classic United comeback was on.

And Sesko then stepped up in the club's hour of need, with the striker powering a header home following a pinpoint delivery from Fernandes.

Sesko's latest goal will please the club. They appear to have a forward playing at the peak of his powers and, given his young age, has the potential to get even better.

It was another huge victory for Carrick's team, who have now won six of their last seven league matches. Champions League football next season now seems feasible.

As for Palace, they showed grit and determination.

However, Lacroix's red card will leave them wondering what could have been.
