Arne Slot refused to elaborate on Liverpool's interest in Alexander Isak as the Reds prepare for Sunday's Community Shield showdown with Crystal Palace at Wembley.
Isak is understood to be the club's top transfer target, with the Newcastle striker eager to leave St James' Park for Anfield.
Liverpool recently saw a bid for the Sweden international turned down, however, and are yet to lodge a second offer.

However, Liverpool remain keen to bring in a new striker with Darwin Nunez potentially heading to Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal.
Slot was asked about Nunez on Friday and admitted there was a 'chance' that the Uruguay international departs.
The Dutchman said: "Things are not signed yet but there is indeed a chance that he's going to leave."
However, when asked about Isak, Slot refused to elaborate on Liverpool's interest in the Newcastle star and chose to discuss Ekitike instead.
He stated: "These are a lot of questions I do not want.
"You never talk about players that are not yours so I can talk to you about Hugo [Ekitike] who we have signed recently and has done really well until now.
"We are very happy with the squad we are having and there is every reason to be happy because we won the league last season.
"OK, players left but we have brought players in as well and the youngsters doing well."

As well as Ekitike, the Reds have also recruited Florian Wirtz. Jeremie Frimpong will also bring a new dimension to their attack, having been signed to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold following the England international's move to Real Madrid.
Slot continued: "I think we have a lot of attacking power in our team.
"When I think about Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa, Hugo Ekitike, Mo Salah, Jeremie Frimpong who can play as a right-winger, Florian Wirtz who can play as a left-winger - I already feel I have a lot of attacking options in my current squad.
"But, as always as a club, we are always looking at the chances in the market but that can also be in the midfield or the last line."
He added: "The good thing about last season was the whole squad stayed so they knew each other very well already.
"Now, a few players have left and we have brought a few players in so that always takes a bit of adaptation because the players we have brought in - some of them have different qualities to the qualities we already have.
"They need to adjust to their new team-mates but we have to adjust to them as well.
