Anthony Gordon has taken a swipe at Newcastle during his Barcelona unveiling, admitting he had already started learning Spanish and telling a club physio: "One day I will play for Barca".
The Englishman has completed a £69.3million move plus add-ons to the Spanish giants, having been in Spain to complete his medical.
The forward appeared to take a couple of subtle digs at the Magpies, implying them as a stepping-stone for his career.
He said: "I wanted to speak Spanish because, as a kid, I believed I would play for Barca, believe it or not.
"I have a physio in Newcastle, and we spoke every day, and I told him that one day I would play for Barca, so I wanted to learn Spanish."
Discussing the Magpies' contest against Barcelona in the Champions League, he said Newcastle "could not touch the ball", as they lost heavily to the Spanish giants.
Gordon continued: "To play with Lamine [Yamal] and the rest of the players is very exciting for me.
"I think the more players with quality around you, the better you are going to be.

"These players are at the very top level for a reason. They are the best players in the world.
"They have so much quality; when we (Newcastle) played them at St James' Park, we could not touch the ball."
Gordon has signed until 2031 with Barcelona after finishing as Newcastle's top scorer this season with 17 goals.
The England international moved to the Magpies from Everton and has been a key threat on the left-hand side.

Earlier at his unveiling, Gordon said: "As soon as I knew Barca was a serious option, there was never any question.
"I always wanted Barca. Barca is the biggest club on the planet.
"It's the stuff I dreamed of as a child. It really is a dream come true to be here.
"I know it comes with a lot of responsibility, but I'm ready for this kind of challenge."

Gordon continued: "I know the players in the past who've worn the shirt. It holds a lot of weight, but I'm excited for the challenge."
Newcastle signed Gordon from Everton in January 2023 for around £40million.
Since then, he has developed into one of the club's most influential players and one of the most highly regarded English wingers in Europe.
