Former Premier League star Dietmar Hamann has warned Ange Postecoglou that it will be 'very hard' for him at Nottingham Forest given the success Nuno Espirito Santo achieved during his time at the club.
The Australian was confirmed as Nuno's successor earlier on Tuesday following a whirlwind 24 hours at the City Ground.
News of Nuno's departure broke late on Monday night, with the Portuguese relieved of his duties following a stuttering start to the season.
That's despite the 51-year-old guiding the club to seventh in the Premier League last term, while also keeping them up in the 2023/24 season.
Hamann, speaking exclusively to GB News via Grosvenor Casino shortly before Postecoglou’s appointment, praised Nuno’s work at the club
And the former Liverpool and Manchester City star also warned it will be 'very hard' for whoever comes in.
He said: "Yeah, [I'm] not too surprised.
"A lot’s been happening in the last few months, so the news, it felt like over the last few weeks and months it was always going to come.

"It’s happened now, a bit surprised it’s happened now, because there hasn’t been a game for 10 days.
"I think Nuno’s done a wonderful job for Forest and he’ll get another good one again. It’ll be very hard for whoever replaces him, because he’s done so well."
Hamann was then asked whether Postecoglou represented an upgrade, a downgrade, or a sideways move.
The ex-Germany midfielder added: "Well with managers it can work out at one club, but doesn’t at another.

Ange Postecoglou guided Tottenham to Europa League glory back in May but still lost his job in north London regardless
| PA"I think it’s very hard to say whether this is an upgrade or not.
"I like Postecoglou. I think he’s a breath of fresh air. Very honest. The way he plays, I like, because it’s entertaining and at the end of the day, it’s entertainment, football.
"I think it would be a great appointment for me personally, because I’d like to see him back in the game and I like listening to him.
"Whether it’s good for Forest, you need to wait and see, because I don’t think the environment at Forest is easy to work in.
"But he can handle himself. I think Forest could do a lot worse than getting Postecoglou."
Postecoglou arrives at Forest with a point to prove.
He was ruthlessly axed by Tottenham earlier this summer, despite guiding the north London side to glory in the Europa League.
The Australian had made it clear he wanted to stay in the job, despite a dire Premier League campaign, but was ultimately replaced by Thomas Frank.

And Hamann has admitted he felt sorry for the 60-year-old after Tottenham wielded the axe, instead of keeping him on.
"Yeah, I would have liked to seen him get another season after winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League," he admitted.
"I think they should have given him another year, because the form in the Premier League dropped off due to the Europa League. The main focus was to win that because they were never going to get into the Champions League through the Premier League.
"He did what was asked: to win a trophy and qualify for the Champions League. I’d have liked to see him get another season."
