Former Premier League manager and TV pundit Alan Pardew has been handed a six-month driving ban after clocking multiple speeding offences, including his most recent one in his £80,000 Porsche Macan.
The 64-year-old, who now works as a presenter for TalkSport, admitted he had “lost concentration” in 20mph zones after being caught four times, three of them in areas with reduced limits.
His latest offence - driving at 26mph in a 20mph stretch of the A205 in Clapham on February 21 - took him to 12 penalty points.
Pardew appealed to Bexley Magistrates’ Court to let him keep his licence, arguing that he is the primary support for his 93-year-old mother, who lives alone in Selsey, West Sussex.

But magistrates ruled the circumstances did not meet the threshold for “exceptional hardship”.
Speaking afterwards, Pardew told the Daily Mail: “I apologise really, in terms of getting the driving ban.
"Three of my speeding offences were for going over a 20mph limit, so maybe it’s a warning to everyone not to lose concentration in those 20mph zones, as it’s so easy to do.”
The former Crystal Palace, West Ham and Newcastle boss had already accumulated nine points from earlier speeding offences in March 2022, May 2022 and May 2023.

In court, Pardew said he feared the ban would leave his mother isolated.
“I’m just trying to keep her life as normal as possible after the loss of her husband,” he said.
“She doesn’t want to live with myself or my sister, she wants to be at home.
“She wants to live in the house where she lived with her partner.

“She’s on her own. We have talked about perhaps bringing her back to London, but she doesn’t want that.
“She’s quite emotional, we lost my brother this year as well, she’s not in a great mental space. I would worry.”
He said he drives her “once or twice a week” to London to see family and also takes her to medical appointments.
His representative, Anne-Marie Critchley, argued the ban would leave the elderly woman unable to travel or shop independently.
“Mr Pardew’s mother is not able to use public transport and fears total isolation without his support,” she said.
“She would be isolated and unable to see the family.”
However, magistrate Sonia Case said the situation did not meet the legal bar required to avoid disqualification.

Pardew, from Warlingham in Surrey, was also ordered to pay £1,034 in fines and costs.
Pardew’s long football career has taken him through both major highs and headline-making controversies.
After playing for clubs including Crystal Palace, Charlton and Barnet, he moved into management in 1999, enjoying spells at Reading, West Ham, Southampton, Newcastle, Palace and West Brom.
He famously guided West Ham to the 2006 FA Cup final and led Newcastle to a fifth-place Premier League finish in 2012.
His time on the touchline has not been without incident, most notably the seven-match ban and fines imposed in 2014 following a clash with Hull City’s David Meyler.
He later managed ADO Den Haag and CSKA Sofia before moving into broadcasting.
