A problematic pit stop for Piastri allowed him to emerge ahead of his team-mate, despite Norris having track position beforehand.
The team swiftly intervened, instructing the Australian to relinquish second place to Norris. Piastri complied with the directive, allowing his British colleague through in the final laps.
His race engineer acknowledged the difficulty of the situation over team radio at the chequered flag, stating: "I appreciate that was painful in a way but we can talk about it after."
