The seven-time world champion called for an 'emergency meeting' hours before the Miami GP

Lewis Hamilton called an emergency meeting with Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur just hours before the Miami Grand Prix, amid rumours of discord at the Italian team.

The seven-time Formula 1 champion has endured a challenging start since his shock move from Mercedes to Ferrari at the beginning of the 2025 season.

Reports emerged that Hamilton arranged a last-minute secret meeting with Vasseur prior to the race in Miami.

The British driver's difficult start to the season has fuelled speculation that he is unhappy at Ferrari and may have fallen out with his new boss.

However, these rumours have been firmly dismissed by French F1 reporter Frederic Ferret, who revealed details of the pre-race meeting on the F1 Nation podcast.

Ferret clarified that the meeting was constructive rather than confrontational.

"Lewis went to speak with Fred while we were having a coffee and said: 'I want to speak with you about the tyres,'" Ferret revealed.

The meeting took place at 9am on the morning of the Miami race.

"He wasn't complaining. He was trying to help," Ferret explained.

The French journalist emphasised that the situation at Ferrari is being misrepresented in some media reports.

"There is not at all a problem. We heard Lewis speak tough on Bono when they had problems," he said.

"It's easy for journalists to write: 'Ferrari, big problems.' It's more complicated than that."

The meeting appears to have been a constructive discussion about technical concerns rather than evidence of any rift between Hamilton and the Ferrari leadership.

Hamilton finished eighth in the Miami Grand Prix, crossing the line three seconds behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.

This result continues a frustrating pattern for the British driver since joining Ferrari.

Despite pulling off a surprise win in the sprint race ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix, Hamilton has failed to secure a podium finish in any of the main races this season.

He currently trails Leclerc by 12 points in the drivers' standings.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

The disappointing performances have intensified scrutiny on Hamilton's high-profile move to the Italian team.

His adaptation to the Ferrari car appears to be taking longer than many expected, especially given everything he achieved during his time at Mercedes.

The contrast with Leclerc's results has only heightened speculation about Hamilton's comfort with his new machinery.

However, according to Ferret, the relationship between Hamilton and the team remains positive despite the challenging results.

Ferret was adamant that the atmosphere within the team remains positive despite the early season struggles.

"[The atmosphere is] 100 per cent [harmonious] and I am not bull******g you," he stated firmly.

"They are very calm and they want to improve."

Despite these reassurances, the pressure on Hamilton is set to intensify in the coming days.

The Formula 1 calendar now moves to Imola for Ferrari's home race.

Racing in front of the passionate Italian fans will undoubtedly increase expectations on both Hamilton and the team.

The British driver will be hoping to deliver a stronger performance at a venue that holds special significance for his new employers at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
