The new season has left fans incensed

Premier League Darts fans have been left fuming after a well-known venue was cut from the 2026 schedule.

The tournament, which begins in February, will once again see the sport’s biggest names travel across 17 host cities. But this time, Exeter has been dropped from the line-up – with Belgium making its debut on the calendar.

The AFAS Dome in Antwerp will stage a night of action on February 12, marking the first time the Premier League has visited the country.

While the addition of a new nation has been welcomed by many, supporters in the South West are disappointed to see Exeter removed, especially as the Westpoint Arena has long been regarded as a favourite stop on the tour.

The decision has also sparked concerns over the scheduling of the UK Open. Traditionally staged within days of the Exeter date, the Butlins venue in Minehead is little more than an hour away, making the pairing convenient for both players and fans.

One supporter wrote on social media: "Exeter always played the week after Minehead. It made sense. Money talks. Oh and don't worry about the South West."

Another commented: "Poor old Exeter. Gone but not forgotten."

A third said: "Exeter before the UK Open is a tradition, terrible to get rid of it."

And a fourth added: "Sad to see Exeter off the list, it made sense having it on the same week as the UK Open so the players didn’t have so far to travel at such short notice. But that being said, there’s no Euro tour country that deserves a PL date more than Belgium."

With Exeter gone, darts fans in the region will now have to travel further afield to venues such as Cardiff, Brighton or London to watch Premier League action live.

Explaining the change, PDC chief executive Matt Porter said: "We're delighted to be able to take the BetMGM Premier League to Belgium in 2026 during what will be our widest-reaching season yet.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

"Belgium has successfully hosted sell-out European Tour events in recent years and the sport has enjoyed huge growth there in recent years. Supported by our broadcast partners VTM and inspired by the big-stage success of Dimitri Van den Bergh and Mike De Decker.

"We're sure that the visit to the AFAS Dome will be another hugely popular event, adding an extra dimension to the Premier League following the sell-out success of the 2025 season and the thrilling finale we enjoyed in London."
