Luke Littler is set to face an NHS manager but only if the 40-year-old can get the time off work.
David Davies, from Benbirgh in Northumberland, said the first step in his preparation will be to book time off from his day job, where he is an area manager.
He beat Mario Vandenbogaerde in a straight-sets win in his World Darts Championship debut on Saturday, dropping just four legs on the way to a 3-0 victory over "Super Mario".
Players who make the second round are guaranteed £25,000.

Ahead of his upcoming match against world number one Littler, the Welshman said: "I've got minimal annual leave left - but I'm sure if I take unpaid leave the £25,000 will come in handy!"
Davies, who has only ever attended the finals as a fan, will meet the 18-year-old as a fan on Sunday, December 21.
The Warrington thrower has experienced a successful 12 months, winning the World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, UK Open, Grand Slam and the World Championship.
Davies, who described his upcoming opponent as a "different breed", qualified for the World Championship through the UK & Ireland qualifying tournament at the start of November.

He said: "There's no games easy here, we're all here because we deserve to be," said Davies.
"But Luke on the other hand, he's a different breed, isn't he? He's blown the sport to a different dimension.
"I'm going to be the underdog in every single game I play. I haven't got a tour card and people say this, that and the other, but I deserve to be here.
"I've won my first game and now Luke's next. I'll try my best and see what happens."

He also revealed she is considering leaving his day job to pursue the sport full-time, but will make the final decision after the World Championships conclude.
Davies said: "I'm not going to get ahead of myself.
"The money is obviously massive because I haven't got any massive backing.
"I've got a full-time job... do I take the plunge and and go full-time in darts?"

He added: "I don't know yet.
"I want to provide for people, that's why I joined the NHS.
"So it's a really difficult decision to make, but then it's also about self-belief on how far I can go.
"But my main priority right now is the World Championship, and then I'll make that decision in January."
