Luke Littler sends emphatic message to critics as World Darts Championship creeps closer

Littler heads into the competition on good form after winning the Players Championship Finals showpiece match against Nathan Aspinall.

Ahead of the World Darts Championship, the 18-year-old British star said: "I mean, I think the crowd was against me and for Nathan.

"It is all about getting your head down and getting over the line.

"Like I always do, shut those fans up, and lift the trophy."

Cheers were noticeably louder for his opponent during the match in Minehead, creating a different atmosphere for Littler, who is usually the fans' favourite.

The British youngster also revealed the two players that he does not want to face at Ally Pally.

He said: "Beau Greaves and Paul Lim, they are the ones I don’t want."

He will face Lithuanian Darius Labanauskas in the opening round at Alexandre Palace in December.

Providing he wins the matchup, Greaves is a likely opponent.

The three-time women’s world champion will need to beat No 22 seed Daryl Gurney in the first round.

Littler's recent success, including a victory at the Grand Slam and several high-ranking finishes over the season, has secured his position at world Number one.

As the top-ranked player, Littler will be among the favourites to progress deep into the tournament.

His form suggests he has the scoring ability and consistency to compete strongly under pressure.
