Luke Humphries completed the illustrious triple crown on Thursday evening at the 02 Arena, after he defeated his rival Luke Littler 11-8 in the Premier League Darts final.
The evening lived up to expectations, with both finalists overcoming stern and persistent challengers in the semi-finals in the form of Gerwyn Price and Nathan Aspinall.
Despite coming into the night as the favourite and going 3-0 up in the final, Littler could not convert his advantage and fell short after Humphries’ superb form after the break.
Littler had topped the league phase of the tournament, with a record 45 points and a best six nightly wins, but he couldn’t continue this form into the finals night to defend his title.

In total, the Premier League has a prize pot of £1million, and Humphries is set to receive £275,000 for lifting the trophy.
Littler has earned a tidy £125,000 for his position as runner-up, with both Price and Aspinall receiving a cool £85,000 each for their participation in finals night.
The remaining four who failed to qualify in the play-offs - Michael van Gerwen, Rob Cross, Chris Dobey and Stephen Bunting - receive between £75,000 - £60,000 depending on their league position.
Finally, each nightly winner receives an additional £10,000 bonus per night, so with Littler’s record-breaking six nightly wins, he earned £60,000.

In comparison, the PDC announced earlier this year they were upping the prize money for the World Championship victor to a staggering £1million, doubling it from the £500,000 that Littler had won this year.
The total prize pot for the tournament will now be £25million.
The World Matchplay winner receives £200,000, from a total prize pot of £800,000.

Thursday evening’s victory sees Luke Humphries take his ranked winnings to in excess of £1.8million, according to PDC’s order of merit.
Second to him is Littler, who now sees his total prize money rise to surplus of £1.3million - almost double that of Michael van Gerwen in third.
The gap shows the growing disparity between the top two and the chasing pack, with even three-time world champion van Gerwen now falling way short of the mark.
To further extend his legacy, Humphries became just the fourth player to complete the triple crown, along with Phil Taylor, van Gerwen and Gary Anderson.

The triple crown includes the Premier League, World Championship, held in the legendary Alexandra Palace, and World Matchplay, which will be hosted in Blackpool in July.
Both Humphries and Littler will be aiming to join the same group of three players to win the Premier League on multiple occasions next year.
After his historic victory, Humphries spoke to Sky Sports: "This one means the world to me, that was the one I was missing. It was the one I wanted, I have done it now.
"If I don't win another title, I am happy as I have done the three hardest ones to do.”
Cool Hand also wanted to take the time to thank 16-time world champion Phil Taylor, who helped Humphries in the week leading up to the final.
“Phil Taylor has given me a lot of support over the last couple of weeks so Phil, if you are watching, thank you," he added.
"He gave me a lot of advice and that extra support."
For now, Humphries can enjoy the prize money after a gruelling campaign, before gearing up again for the World Cup with Littler in June.
