Tyson Fury retired after being beaten twice by Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury's nutritionist Greg Marriott has revealed that "overcomplicated" training camps were a key factor in the heavyweight boxer's defeats against Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury suffered his first and second career losses to the Ukrainian fighter in May and December last year, both by points decisions.

Marriott believes that Fury's preparation for the bouts was flawed, with his team focusing on complexity rather than ensuring the 'Gypsy King' was in peak physical condition.

"Instead of making him super fit, they made things too complex. He should have never have lost against Usyk," Marriott told Seconds Out.

"It shouldn't have even been close, because he is that good. But my voice will only go so far in camp."

The nutritionist was particularly critical of the preparation for the rematch, stating: "That camp for me was 60 per cent for Fury for the rematch. And he only just come unstuck."

Marriott added: "He should have just been super fit and made to go do his thing. The standard needed to go up for Usyk."

Fury's father John has also been critical of his son's preparations for the Usyk fights.

According to recent reports, Fury Sr insisted that his son should have been in better physical condition to have the best chance of defeating the Ukrainian.

John Fury specifically mentioned that Tyson's "lack of muscle and body strength" was what hurt him most in the losses to Usyk, echoing Marriott's concerns about the fighter's physical conditioning.

Despite being part of Tyson's corner team, it appears John Fury may not have heeded Marriott's advice during camp.

Despite announcing his retirement after the second Usyk defeat, Fury appears to be keeping himself in excellent shape.

He has been posting training footage on social media, fuelling speculation about a potential comeback.

In a recent Instagram video with his father, Fury teased: "Business meeting today, dad. En-route. Incoming, incoming."

He also shared footage from a gym session with coach SugarHill Steward, cryptically adding: "You know what's coming."

The 'Gypsy King' looks to be in "incredible shape" currently, continuing to train consistently despite his retirement.

Fury has recently called out Usyk for a trilogy fight, suggesting it should take place in front of British fans rather than in Saudi Arabia where their previous two bouts were held.

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has expressed frustration at Fury's social media teasing, telling Sky Sports: "Why do this to us?

"What does it mean? Is this some sort of mind game or is he gearing up for a comeback? Just let us know either way."

Hearn believes a potential Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight would be "the biggest fight, not just in British boxing, in world boxing, by a mile."
