Anthony Joshua was injured in a fatal car crash that claimed the lives of his two friends

Tyson Fury has broken his silence following the devastating car crash in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two of Anthony Joshua's closest friends.

The Gypsy King took to Instagram on Tuesday to pay his respects after learning that Sina Ghami and Kevin Ayodele had died in the horrific accident.

"This is so sad. May God give them a good bed in heaven," Fury wrote alongside a post confirming the tragic news.

In a separate message, the former WBC heavyweight champion added: "There is no tomorrow. Live, love, and give."

It's a touching tribute from a man who has spent years trading barbs with Joshua, showing that rivalries can be put aside when tragedy strikes.

The crash happened on Monday along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Sagamu, Ogun State, when the black Lexus Jeep carrying Joshua and his friends slammed into a stationary Sinotruck.

Both Ghami and Ayodele were killed instantly, while two other passengers escaped without injury.

The pair weren't just mates – they were absolutely vital to Joshua's boxing career.

Ghami ran Evolve Gym in Colindale, north west London, where the 36-year-old would prepare for his fights.

Sina served as Joshua's strength and conditioning coach and was actually in his corner for the knockout victory over Jake Paul just weeks ago on December 19.

The Federal Road Safety Corps confirmed their operatives reached the scene within three minutes, enabling swift rescue operations.

While Nigerian authorities initially described Joshua's injuries as "minor," there are growing fears the damage could be far worse than first thought.

Sources close to the heavyweight star have raised concerns about possible rib and knee injuries, according to reports.

Video footage from the scene showed Joshua grimacing in considerable pain as he was helped away from the wreckage by bystanders.

His long-time promoter Eddie Hearn, currently on holiday in the Caribbean, confirmed to Mirror Sport that Joshua was heading to hospital but couldn't provide further details.

Officials in Ogun State later said the boxer was "conscious and has been in communication with his family" following comprehensive medical assessments.

Beyond the physical injuries, Joshua now faces the agonising emotional trauma of witnessing his close friends die in front of him.

Mourners have been leaving flowers and a lit candle outside Evolve Gym in tribute to Ghami.

Agash Satkunarajah, 26, from Harrow, who knew Sina personally, stood for several minutes taking in the memorial.

"It's quite devastating to see that they went for a holiday and never came home," he said. "For AJ I just don't know where this takes him. I think mentally he's going to be broken."

He added that it would be "very difficult" for Joshua to continue boxing after losing two of the most important people in his career.

The tragedy has thrown serious doubt over the long-awaited showdown between Joshua and Fury, which had been mooted for next summer.

Fury teased his own comeback just minutes before posting his tribute, sharing a photo with his sons wearing shirts reading "I'm back."
