Tommy Fury secured a points victory over Kenan Hanjalic on Friday night in Budapest

Tommy Fury has faced criticism from boxing fans following his underwhelming return to the ring after an 18-month hiatus.

The 26-year-old extended his undefeated record to 11-0 with victory over Bosnian fighter Kenan Hanjalic at the MTK Arena in Budapest on Friday night.

Despite securing the win on the judges' scorecards, Fury struggled to impress in his first fight since defeating social media star KSI in 2023.

The six-round contest left many spectators unimpressed with the former Love Island star's performance.

Fury failed to impose himself against the relatively unknown Hanjalic, who entered the bout with a modest 5-1 record.

Despite facing unheralded opposition, the British fighter appeared to struggle with ring rust after his lengthy absence from competitive boxing.

Hanjalic, who reportedly had over 100 amateur fights, proved a tougher challenge than many expected.

Fury later attributed his lacklustre showing to his time away from the sport, telling fans: "I've had two years out of the ring, this is me after two years."

Following his victory, Fury took aim at Jake Paul, the influencer-turned-boxer whom he defeated in 2023.

"Jake Paul's a b**** and he's running scared," Fury declared. "Hey, Jake, the hand is fixed now, the hand is fixed.

"If Jake Paul wants to step inside this ring, I guarantee you next time I will knock him spark out.

"I will knock that bum out wherever he wants it."

In his post-fight speech, Fury also took time to thank his family, including his daughter Bambi and partner Molly-Mae Hague.

The couple have recently reconciled following a highly-publicised split last year.

Fury's acknowledgement of Hague comes as the pair work to rebuild their relationship after what has been a turbulent period.

The influencer was not present at the Budapest fight, but Fury made sure to mention her in his victory comments.

Fury's explanation of ring rust did little to placate critics on social media, with many branding his performance and post-fight antics as "embarrassing".

One fan wrote: "Imagine being a professional boxer, who also happens to be a Fury, Yet here u are calling Jake Paul out, who not only u already beat, but isn't even supposed to be in a legit boxer's radar."

"This is so random," another quipped, considering that Fury and Paul's fight happened two years ago.

Others questioned his commitment to boxing, criticising the six-round format as "ridiculous" for someone at his career stage.

However, some supporters defended Fury, with one noting: "Tommy fury is still learning... It takes time. Can't bi-pass levels, or you will come unstuck."
