The late boxer's younger sibling, Matthew, has shared a deeply personal farewell message alongside a collection of photographs depicting their lives together.

The 44-year-old former professional fighter posted six images showing the brothers from their school days through to recent times.

"I love you Richard. See you on the other side X," Matthew wrote.

The photographs featured the pair as schoolchildren, captured during their professional boxing careers, and in later years.

Matthew, who competed for British and Commonwealth titles and once challenged Canelo Alvarez, frequently appeared on his brother's undercards during major bouts.

The heavyweight champion Tyson Fury expressed his shock to the news on Instagram, declaring: "RIP to the legend, Ricky Hatton. There will only be one Ricky Hatton. Can't believe this, so young."

Fury shared a photograph from their training sessions together, taken during a period when both men faced personal and mental health struggles.

Former world champion Amir Khan delivered a poignant reflection on mental health alongside his tribute.

"Today we lost not only one of Britain's greatest boxers, but a friend, a mentor, a warrior, Ricky Hatton," Khan wrote.

"As fighters, we tell ourselves we’re strong we train, we sweat, we take hits, we get up. But sometimes the hardest fight happens in silence, in the mind. Mental health isn’t weakness. It’s part of being human. And we must talk about it. We must reach out. We must lean on each other."

Veteran boxing promoter Frank Warren paid extensive homage to the former champion, describing him as more than just a boxing great.

"He was a British sporting icon, not just a boxing icon but a sporting icon," Warren stated during a GB News appearance.

The promoter recalled signing Hatton at 18 years old, when the young fighter sold merely a handful of tickets for his debut.

Warren emphasised how Hatton would later then draw 30,000 British supporters to Las Vegas for his fights.

"What you saw was what you got with Ricky, a lovely, lovely bloke. He was a fan's friend, he'd be down the pub with them," he reflected.
