The two fighters bet an astonishing seven-figure sum on the outcome with Tyson coming out on top this time

Mike Tyson has collected a £750,000 ($1million) wager from Jake Paul after Katie Taylor defeated Amanda Serrano at Madison Square Garden on Friday night.

The 59-year-old former heavyweight champion backed Taylor to complete a hat-trick of victories over her rival, whilst Paul supported his business partner Serrano.

Tyson immediately took to social media following Taylor's majority decision victory, posting: "Congrats to @KatieTaylor and @Serranosisters on the trilogy fight on Netflix.

"@jakepaul see you at dinner to collect my million!"

The bet was made during fight week, with Tyson also insisting that the multimillionaire YouTuber-turned-boxer take him out for dinner as part of the deal.

The wager was agreed during a video call between the two former opponents, who faced each other in a controversial bout last November.

"I've got Katie," Tyson replied bluntly when Paul suggested they bet on the fight.

Paul proposed the terms: "If Katie wins, then you get $1million, if Amanda wins, then I get $1million."

Tyson enthusiastically agreed but added one condition: "I like that! Then you've got to take me out to dinner too."

"Alright, I'll take you out for dinner. I'll take you on a date," Paul responded, sealing the seven-figure wager between the pair.

Taylor secured her third consecutive victory over Serrano with a majority decision, though the bout was notably more tactical than their previous encounters.

The pair landed just 140 punches combined, significantly fewer than the 541 in their November rematch.

"I just want to thank Amanda Serrano as well, what an amazing fighter, we've made history here," Taylor said post-fight. "I thought I boxed very smart, very well. She wasn't catching me with much."

The 39-year-old Olympic champion joked about her future: "I don't know, I just don't want to fight Amanda Serrano again - she punches too hard!"

Serrano graciously accepted defeat despite her team believing she had won.

"I have to go back and watch it. My team told me they think I won, I'm going to believe what they tell me," the 36-year-old said.

She thanked Paul and then praised the support for women's boxing: "Thank you Katie Taylor for an incredible 30 rounds, it's been a true honour."

The fight carried significant stakes beyond the wager, with Taylor's undisputed super lightweight crown on the line.

Both fighters reportedly earned over £4.6m each, with Serrano claiming the purses were the biggest in women's boxing history.
