The rematch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium saw Eubank Jr comprehensively outperformed by Benn

Chris Eubank Jr has posted a troubling video from a hospital bed, revealing he is stepping away from boxing to address persistent health concerns.

The 36-year-old British fighter uploaded the footage to X on Tuesday, showing himself lying motionless with an oxygen mask while surrounded by medical staff and monitoring equipment.

The Brighton boxer disclosed that ongoing medical problems had finally overwhelmed him during last month's punishing defeat to Conor Benn.

Following the loss at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he appeared visibly depleted throughout the contest, Eubank Jr has now confirmed the underlying reasons for his lacklustre performance against his long-standing rival.

In his statement accompanying the video, Eubank Jr wrote: "I've been dealing with a lot of health issues over the last year & yeah it all finally caught up to me last month.

"I will not box again until I'm back to 100 per cent & I don't know when that will be."

"But one thing is for certain... For the fans that have supported me through thick and thin, I will do everything in my power to make sure that one day, the old me makes a big comeback.”

Fans quickly flooded the comment section with support for the soon-to-be father of two.

One wrote: "You’ve given us years of entertainment Chris. Wishing you the best and even if we never see you in the ring again, thanks for all the memories – selfishly it would be amazing to see a few more uppercuts but if it’s not to be – thank you for all the nights spent screaming at the TV / ring.”

Another added: "Thoughts and prayers with you champ, you’ve got this.”

A third said: "Hope you feel better soon."

Another commented: "You owe it to your children to be 100 per cent, not your fans. Fight for them to enjoy you."

The rematch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium saw Eubank Jr comprehensively outperformed by Benn, who claimed a comfortable points victory seven months after losing their first encounter.

The contest proved one-sided, with Eubank Jr hitting the canvas twice during the final round and one judge awarding him just a single round across the entire fight.

His punch output dropped dramatically compared to their April meeting, landing approximately 300 fewer shots than in his initial triumph.

After the bout, Eubank Jr told reporters he had been "through hell and back" simply to enter the ring, though he declined to elaborate on the specifics at that time.

Eubank Jr's promoter Ben Shalom acknowledged his fighter was far from his best.

He told talkSPORT: "I think anyone with any sort of brain can see that wasn't Eubank Jr, he was a shell of himself."

Shalom added that his client "didn't even have the energy to fight back" and was not in a fit state to compete at that level.

The timing adds further weight to Eubank Jr's situation, with the fighter having announced last month that he is expecting twin boys.
