The boxing star won the bout on Saturday night

Chris Eubank Sr has revealed his son nearly died following his recent victory over Conor Benn at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night.

The 58-year-old boxing legend rushed his son to hospital after the brutal unanimous decision win.

Jr, 35, was suffering from severe dehydration after dropping to 11st 6lb for the fight against his 28-year-old rival.

The Brighton fighter endured 36 "frantic and breathless" minutes in the ring before requiring urgent medical attention.

Eubank Jr spent two nights in the Royal London hospital, being released on Monday morning.

He suffered significant swelling and bruising to his face during the contest.

His father revealed there were desperately worrying times when he didn't know if his son would survive.

The incident brought back painful memories of Senior's 1991 fight with Michael Watson, which left Watson with life-changing brain injuries.

"It just brought me back all those years ago to think about what Michael went through, and I was feeling and seeing and hearing all of that," Sr said on his Call Chris YouTube show.

"And I'm saying to myself, people don't know, but my son is touch and go.

"The only way we're going to know whether he's going to be okay is after the CT scans.

"He suffered mostly in the hospital because of dehydration, even though the beating was severe."

The emotional toll on the Eubank family was heightened by the loss of Jr's brother Sebastian, who died in 2021 following a heart attack in Dubai.

Sr described the haunting moment in hospital: "Junior was lying down on a stretcher and he was sensitive to light, so he always had a towel and something over his eyes.

"He had a shroud around him, around his eyes and head, and just his beard poking out.

"And in that moment he looked exactly like Sebastian, the spitting image.

"It's real for us. My son was in a touch-and-go situation. Life or death."

Jr had honoured his brother by having Sebastian's name and photo etched onto his iconic shorts during the fight.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Despite the 35-year-old not yet speaking publicly since the fight, Team Benn and promoter Eddie Hearn are already discussing a potential rematch.

Hearn has even suggested Eubank Jr could be required to drop to an even lower weight for the second bout, giving Benn more of an advantage.

Sr also made it clear he would prefer his son to retire from boxing rather than risk his health in further bouts.

"He doesn't respect that because he is a warrior and a warrior goes out on his shield, which he proved," he continued.

"He's not going to listen to the rules. If he can evade and sidestep the rules, he will, because he is a warrior.

"It would be an extraordinary blessing for him, if he was wise enough to walk off into the sunset, there is nothing cooler than that, you cannot buy that.

"There are billionaires who would give everything they have, to have what he has."
