Tyson Fury's father has blasted the YouTuber-turned-boxer

John Fury has hit back at Jake Paul’s accusation that Tommy Fury rejected a lucrative rematch, insisting his son is not avoiding the fight and physically cannot enter the United States.

Paul, who is due to face Anthony Joshua in Miami on December 19, has reignited his rivalry with Tommy, labelling him “daddy’s little boy” and claiming he turned down a $15million offer.

The former YouTuber implied the 26-year-old had no intention of stepping back into the ring after losing to him on points in February 2023.

Tommy’s father and trainer responded forcefully, dismissing Paul’s claims and accusing the YouTuber-turned-boxer of misleading fans.

Posting a video statement on Instagram, Fury said the supposed deal was never realistic because of Tommy’s travel restrictions.

“You may have offered $15 million, but you knew full well we couldn’t get into the United States of America,” he said.

He then explained that the Fury camp had proposed an alternative location.

“We did offer to box right next to you in Canada. You wanna fight, put your $15m in writing to our legal team," he added. "You can be in a ring within eight weeks anywhere in the world, that’s all I’m going to say to you mate, except America."

Fury also questioned Paul’s reliability in financial agreements, referencing the aftermath of the first fight, which resulted in a split-decision victory for Tommy.

“Did we or did we not bet you $3 million on national TV in front of the world media, and what did you do?” he said.

“You welched, you didn’t pay, you gave us the middle finger. So really Jake, we can’t take your word for nothing, can we? You tread where the grass is low.”

Paul has not addressed those accusations directly, but he has continued to goad the Fury camp online while promoting his high-profile December fight with Joshua, which will be streamed globally on Netflix.

The eight-round heavyweight contest will mark the most high-profile bout of Paul’s career so far.

Tommy, who has fought only once since defeating Paul in Saudi Arabia, had previously expressed interest in a rematch, particularly given the commercial success of their first meeting.

However, his inability to travel to the US has long been viewed as a barrier to staging the fight on Paul’s preferred turf.

Fury suggested that if Paul is serious, the rematch could take place anywhere outside American soil, but only once a genuine written contract is provided.

“It has to be in writing from people like you … because your word’s no good. Good luck mate,” he added.

Even if the pair do agree terms, any second fight is unlikely to happen soon.

Paul’s clash with Joshua is expected to dominate his schedule for the foreseeable, meaning a potential Tommy rematch would not materialise until late next year at the earliest, and possibly 2027.

For now, both camps continue to trade barbs, leaving fans waiting to see whether the rivalry will ever reach its second act.
