Boxing fans have vented their fury after it was confirmed Mike Tyson and Jake Paul will take part in an exhibition match in July.

Netflix have confirmed the news this afternoon, saying: "It’s JAKE PAUL vs. MIKE TYSON — yes, really! — in a LIVE BOXING event at AT&T Stadium you won’t want to miss.

"Fakest fight of all time," said one X user.

A second said: "This fight is definitely fake."

A third stated: "Jake Paul's a good boxer and Mike's obviously not in his prime anymore, but if Mike loses or this is a tie then we absolutely know for sure that this is faked, or at least staged."

A fourth fumed: "Have some shame."

And a fifth amusingly stated: "I'm busy that weekend."

Not everybody was so negative, however, with other users excited for the bout.

"Watching this live. Love to watch them," said one fan.

A second enthused: "Wow! Looking forward to this!!"

A third said: "I hate myself that I'm going to watch this."

And a fourth weighed in by saying: "Looking forward to seeing it. FIGHT OF THE YEAR!"

There is a huge 30-year age gap between the two fighters.

Paul is 27, with Tyson 57. The boxing icon will have celebrated his 58th birthday by the time the showdown takes place.

Tyson has said he's looking forward to the fight and thinks it will be 'a lot of fun' to see how far Paul has come in his boxing career.

"I'm very much looking forward to stepping into the ring with Jake Paul," said the boxing icon.

'He's grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a “kid” can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT."

Paul has admitted he wants to become world champion in the future.

"It’s crazy to think that in my second pro fight, I went viral for knocking out Nate Robinson on Mike Tyson’s undercard," he said.

"Now, less than four years later, I’m stepping up to face Tyson myself to see if I have what it takes to beat one of boxing’s most notorious fighters and biggest icons.

"My sights are set on becoming a world champion, and now I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion ever, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time.

"This will be the fight of a lifetime."

Netflix has partnered with Paul's 'Most Valuable Promotions' organisation to stage the event with Tyson.

Paul is proud of that, adding: "Within just two and a half years of founding MVP, we’re about to produce the biggest fight in history, a fight in the biggest NFL stadium in the US, broadcast live, on the biggest streaming platform in the world – a testament to all we’ve accomplished in such a short amount of time.
