The 76-year-old monarch and Queen Camilla were seen beaming on the Buckingham Palace balcony

King Charles and Queen Camilla led the Royal Family at Trooping the Colour outside Buckingham Palace today.

The 76-year-old monarch and his 77-year-old wife were seen beaming and waving from the balcony at well-wishers who had gathered outside the iconic London landmark.

The annual King's Birthday Parade saw fewer royals in attendance compared to previous years, with several non-working Royal Family members notably absent.

Despite the reduced numbers, the King appeared in good spirits as he entertained the crowds alongside the Queen.

Royals who rode on horseback - Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince William

The Princess Royal, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Prince of Wales rode on horseback to celebrate Trooping the Colour in 2025.

Prince William, 42, wore the Full Ceremonial Guard Order of the Welsh Guards, the Most Noble Order of the Garter Sash with the Lesser George and a Welsh Guards Sword.

Meanwhile, Prince Edward, 61, wore the Full Ceremonial Guard Order of the Scots Guards, the Thistle Star and Sash, Platinum Jubilee medals, plus the Coronation Medal, along with his New Zealand and Canadian Orders.

Finally, Princess Anne wore the Full Mounted Ceremonial uniform of the Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons).

Anne, Edward and William, along with King Charles, also wore black armbands to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the Air India disaster earlier this week.

Royals who rode via carriage - Princess Kate, the Wales children, the Duchess of Edinburgh, the Gloucesters, and Sir Tim Laurence

The Princess of Wales and her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, rode in an Ascot Landau carriage as they arrived at Trooping the Colour today.

In coachbuilding, a landau is a four-wheeled luxury carriage with a roof that can be let down.

Meanwhile, Sophie, Sir Tim Laurence (Princess Anne's husband), and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester all rode in Barouche-style carriages.

Barouches are a type of carriage first seen in London in the early 19th century.

As these royals all wore civilian clothing, they did not have to wear the black armbands sported by Prince William, Prince Edward, Princess Anne and King Charles.

Royals who were absent - the Tindalls, the Sussexes, Lady Louise Windsor, and the Yorks

Zara and Mike Tindall, who are not working royals, were not permitted to attend Trooping the Colour today with their children, Mia, Lena or Lucas.

The same rule applied to Zara's older brother, Peter Phillips, who has two daughters - Savannah, 14, and Isla, 13.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who stepped back as working royals in 2020, are understood not to have been invited to the ceremony for the third year in a row.

Lady Louise Windsor, 21, and her brother James, Earl of Wessex, 17, were not present due to their educational commitments.

Finally, Prince Andrew and his daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, were not in attendance today because of their non-working royal status.

The Duke of York, 65, stepped back from royal life in 2019 and only appears in public for private family gatherings such as Christmas and Easter.
