Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's exit from Royal Lodge appears to be imminent

Sarah Ferguson “has no right” to live in Crown Estate property, a royal commentator has claimed, following reports she wants to live at Adelaide Cottage in exchange for leaving Royal Lodge.

Ms Ferguson has lived in the 30-room mansion since 2008, with her disgraced ex-husband Prince Andrew, but it appears their time at the Grade II building is coming to an end due to relentless scrutiny over their links to late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Royal commentator, Richard Fitzwilliams, told the Mail: “If they think that having two homes - which the King I'm sure won't agree to - is likely to solve things, they're still living in a rather weird fantasy world.

“I'm surprised that Sarah Ferguson has managed these comebacks. There's no comeback now, she's in disgrace.”

He added: “There's no reason at all that she should [have her own Crown Estate] home. This is an idea that Andrew has had to give up 30-room Royal Lodge. Well, let's have two. I don't see it working.

“If it was adopted, there'd be outrage... she's not been a working royal since 1996 - the idea that should get anything on the Crown Estate... it doesn't matter what she wants, she is getting out of touch with reality as he has so obviously been.

“Giving up Royal Lodge was going to happen and the pressure must be enormous on them. The pressure they are feeling is so intense that they hardly know what they are doing and thinking. It's extraordinary.

“It's Crown Estate and if there's any taxpayer responsibility, that would be extremely controversial.”

King Charles has wanted his brother and Ms Ferguson out of Royal Lodge for a long time, and it appears their exit will be imminent.

Mr Fitzwilliams continued: “This was the couple who, Sarah Ferguson boasted, were the 'happiest divorced couple in the world'. It seems they now want to separate.

He added: “The problem is that the Waleses will not want them as neighbours - who would? If there's one thing that William and Kate won't want, it is Andrew and Fergie in close proximity.”

The pair divorced in 1996, but have maintained a good relationship and have lived at Royal Lodge together since 2008, but now with them seemingly set to take separate houses, the strain on the pair appears to have taken it’s toll.

A friend told the Sun: “It's incredible that they are willing to go their own separate ways.

“But it indicates that they have been under immense strain this year and need a break from one another. It's a fresh start for both.”

With Ms Ferguson eyeing up Adelaide Cottage, Andrew is set to move to Frogmore Cottage; neither of the buildings would need renovation or further protection as they both lie within the Windsor Castle security perimeter

Discussions are reportedly ongoing as to how much rent both Andrew and Ms Ferguson will pay.

Ms Ferguson has been contacted for comment by GB News.
