The Duchess of York received mixed reviews for her debut on This Morning

Sarah Ferguson is in talks with a TV channel about an on-screen role, according to a source.

The Duchess of York has been welcomed by ITV to return to both This Morning and Loose Women in a part-time role, the insider close to Fergie said.

Ferguson debuted in Holly Willoughby’s old role on This Morning in November but received mixed reviews from viewers.

It was reported that Fergie could be in the running to permanently fill Willoughby’s seat on the ITV show.

But according to representatives of the duchess this was “never on the cards” as she does not have the time for a full-time position.

The source said "The Duchess’s writing career and charity work wouldn’t allow her to be a full-time TV host and this was never envisaged by either side.

“But she’s talking to ITV about a return to both This Morning and Loose Women soon, and has been told she’s welcome any time."

An ITV source confirmed this stating that there was “zero chance” that Fergie would take on a permanent role on This Morning.

However, the source was complimentary to the duchess saying that she was a “joy to have around the place.”

The duchess regularly appears on the Loose Women panel and proves popular amongst viewers as she opens up about her personal problems.

In November, Fergie launched a breast cancer campaign on Loose Women to encourage women to be screened for cancer following her breast cancer surgery.

However, viewers of the ITV show This Morning were divided by Fergie’s debut as she co-hosted with regular presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.

Some viewers loved the duchess’ sense of humour and skits on the show.

One fan wrote on social media: “I forgot how funny Fergie is.”

However, many other viewers were left unimpressed by her hosting skills and found her performance unnatural.

Another social media user wrote: “Fergie’s not really a ‘Natural’ at presenting is she?”

During the show Ferguson talked about topics close to her heart including how to rehome a dog, how to protect your skin and the importance of defibrillators.

The duchess also offered relationship advice to callers on the show including first dates and proposals.

Callers asked Fergie’s advice on how to make time for their partners.

She answered: “The element of surprise- that will bring the magic back to the relationship.”
