Princess Eugenie revealed an “amazing” act of kindness her mother, Sarah Ferguson, paid her at a particularly low moment.
The 35-year-old royal, the youngest daughter of Fergie and Prince Andrew, was speaking as she reflected on major health battle from her youth.
The royal revealed the debilitating recuperation left her “very embarrassed about the whole thing” while speaking with The Telegraph.

“I remember being woken up really early before my surgery – I pulled my blanket over my head. I said: ‘I don’t want to see anyone and I don’t want them to see me,’” Eugenie recalled tragically.
However, the 35-year-old celebrated her mother’s efforts to help her through the difficult process.
“She was amazing,” Eugenie glowed as she revealed Fergie’s touching way of showing her daughter there was nothing to be afraid of.
“She’d ask me if she could show it to people, then she’d turn me around and say, ‘my daughter is superhuman, you’ve got to check out her scar,’” the Princess shared.

Fergie’s approach immediately made an impact on the young Eugenie.
“All of sudden it was a badge of honour – a cool thing I had. It trained my brain that it’s ok, scars are cool.
“It became a positive memory, a part of me, that I could do something with in the future. I could help heal other people,” the 35-year-old celebrated.
The power of Fergie’s words evidently had a lifelong positive impact on Eugenie, who famously wore a wedding dress that left her back scar visible.

Eugenie has been a supporter of causes related to children with spinal conditions, with her recent comments coming as she attended an event at the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre at Salisbury District Hospital.
While there, the royal revealed she takes a role in helping families dealing with children awaiting spinal surgery, as she once did.
The 35-year-old explained she often receives messages from nervous parents whose children were awaiting the sometimes harrowing procedure and long recuperation afterwards.
To help, Eugenie said she speaks to the children over the phone to help their confidence ahead of their operation.

“A little voice comes on the phone and they don’t know what questions to ask. I tell them not to feel ashamed – not just of the scar but of the whole experience; bed pans, the lot,” she detailed.
Referring to the “literal angels” nurses, Eugenie advised the children never to “feel nervous about letting them look after you”.
Eugenie imagined her own mum and dad must have been “absolutely terrified” when she was battling the spinal condition.
“With my own children, I panic if one of them bumps their heads in case we have to take them to A&E, or even if they just want to cut paper with art scissors,” she revealed while speaking with The Telegraph.
