Sarah Ferguson sparked backlash with a glaring error in her tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.

The Duchess of York, 64, took to her various social media profiles to wish Her Late Majesty a happy birthday, as she would have celebrated her 98th birthday today.

However, Fergie, as the duchess is affectionately known, did not use the correct age in her post.

She wrote: "Today we are remembering Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on what would have been her 97th birthday.

Another added: "Err..98..!!" with several angry emojis.

However, others came out in defence of Princess Beatrice and Eugenie's mother, insisting it was a typo.

One person said: "To all those correcting Sarah Ferguson, I'm sure she knows exactly how old HM Queen Elizabeth would have been. It can only be a typo."

Sarah previously described the late monarch as her "total idol".
