King Charles and Princess Kate revealed details of health matters

A royal expert has hit out at claims the Palace have “lied” about the health of Royal figures in the past.

Speaking on GB News, Rage Heydel-Mankoo said there has been many instances in which the Palace have been “forthcoming” when it comes to the disclosure of health matters.

It comes after King Charles and Princess Kate revealed details of health matters within short succession of each other.

The Princess of Wales remains in hospital after abdominal surgery, with sources saying she is “doing well” but will spend up to three months recovering.

Meanwhile, the King is preparing for a corrective procedure after being diagnosed with a benign enlarged prostate.

Speaking on Palace “controversy” over a “lack of transparency” on a stint in hospital for the late Queen, Heydel-Mankoo was quick to defend the royal institution.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

“It should be noted that the Palace has been forthcoming previously about medical issues related to the Royal Family”, he said.

“In 2012, for example, we knew that the Duke of Edinburgh had been admitted to hospital with a bladder infection after being on a very rainy barge trip down the River Thames.

“We’ve also know, of course in 2007, our current Queen, then Duchess of Cornwall, had a hysterectomy we were informed about and of course when Prince Philip was in hospital with heart issues before he died, we were kept abreast of that.

“They have been forthcoming to a degree, but the policy has always been that medical issues, as they are for all of us, a very personal, private matter.”

Buckingham Palace, in an unprecedented double royal health scare, announced Charles’s news just an hour and a half after Kensington Palace revealed Kate’s operation.

The 75-year-old monarch, who acceded to the throne 16 months ago, will be admitted to hospital next week.

The King is staying at Birkhall in Aberdeenshire with the Queen but the Palace has not confirmed whether he will be treated in London or Scotland.

He is said to be in touch with the Waleses, with a source describing them as a “close family”.

Kate also has a strong bond with her parents Carole and Michael Middleton and siblings Pippa Matthews and James Middleton, and the family, who live nearby in Berkshire, will be on hand to support her recovery.

The nature of the princess’s condition has not been revealed although Kensington Palace confirmed it was not cancerous.

It is serious enough, however, for heir to the throne William to be postponing official duties while his wife is in hospital and in the immediate aftermath while she recuperates, devoting his time to his family.
