Queen Camilla marked the Edinburgh garden party on July 1 by wearing Queen Mary's Diamond Thistle Brooch, a historic piece of royal jewellery featuring Scotland's national emblem.
The Queen chose the significant brooch for the Sovereign's Garden Party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, where she and King Charles welcomed more than 8,000 guests.
Tobias Kormind, the managing director and co-founder of 77 Diamonds, Europe's largest online diamond jeweller, exclusively told GB News: "The much-awaited Royal Week began on Tuesday in Edinburgh with a flurry of events planned, and the annual garden party was anticipated to be the fashion highlight."
He noted that expectations were met regarding the Queen's jewellery choices. "We expected Queen Camilla to pay tribute to Scotland through her jewellery choices, and she did," Kormind said.

"She wore Queen Mary's diamond thistle brooch, as she did in 2024, as a nod to the Scottish floral emblem," he explained, highlighting the continuity in royal tradition.
The diamond brooch represents a meaningful tribute to Scottish heritage through royal jewellery. Queen Camilla's deliberate choice continues a tradition of honouring Scotland during official engagements north of the border.
The garden party launched a week of events celebrating Scottish culture and traditions.
The thistle holds deep significance as Scotland's national emblem and flower, first appearing as a royal symbol on silver coins issued by James III in 1470.

The Order of the Thistle represents Scotland's highest honour, equivalent to England's Order of the Garter.
The Diamond Thistle Brooch originally belonged to Queen Mary before being inherited by her granddaughter, Queen Elizabeth II.
It remained publicly unworn until 2010, when Elizabeth was photographed wearing it at Holyroodhouse for a portrait intended for the Scottish Parliament.
The historic piece embodies centuries of royal connection to Scotland through its symbolic design.

Queen Elizabeth II wore the brooch regularly for Scottish engagements over several years following its 2010 reappearance. The late monarch favoured the piece for occasions with Scottish connections, including the Scottish Opening of Parliament in 2021.
Queen Camilla has embraced this tradition, wearing the Diamond Thistle Brooch to last year's Edinburgh garden party. She also chose the historic piece for an event celebrating 25 years of the Scottish Parliament in September 2024.
The Queen's repeated selection of this particular brooch demonstrates her understanding of symbolic royal jewellery.
Her intentional choices honour the established practice of acknowledging Scotland through meaningful accessories during official visits.
