The US Department of Justice has released approximately 3 million files connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, with emails involving Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit among the documents now made public.
One email exchange from October 2012 shows the Norwegian royal, now 52, responding to Epstein after he enquired about a wedding she had attended.
"Boring wedding. Was like some kind of old movie. Where you know the characters are not hanging around for much long[er]," the Crown Princess wrote on 21 October 2012.

The message was sent from a redacted address bearing the name "HKH Kronprinsessen" — the Norwegian title for Crown Princess.
The wedding referenced in the exchange took place just days earlier, when Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg celebrated their nuptials in October 2012.
Crown Prince Haakon accompanied his wife to the Luxembourg ceremony, which was also attended by Spanish royals King Felipe and Queen Letizia, as well as Sweden's King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia.

Additional email exchanges between Mette-Marit and Epstein touched upon her family life and a visit she made to his Florida residence.
The files also reveal discussions about what was described as Epstein's attempts at "wife hunting".
On Friday, the Norwegian royal released a statement addressing her interactions with the disgraced financier.
Speaking to Norwegian broadcaster NRK, the Crown Princess distanced herself from her former association with Epstein and expressed deep remorse for failing to scrutinise his past.

A spokesperson for the princess told GB News: "Jeffrey Epstein is responsible for his actions. I must take responsibility for not checking Epstein's background better and for not understanding quickly enough what kind of person he was.
"I deeply regret that, and this is a responsibility I must take. I showed poor judgment and regret ever having any contact with Epstein. It is simply embarrassing.
"I wish to express my deep sympathy and solidarity with the victims of the abuse committed by Jeffrey Epstein."
