Prince William visits food court just days after King Charles launches major project

The King's project aims to bridge the gap between food waste and food needs across all four nations of the United Kingdom.

King Charles visited the South Oxfordshire Food and Education Alliance (SOFEA) surplus food distribution centre in Didcot with his wife, Queen Camilla, 76.

The Prince of Wales's visit to a food bank today came after his trip to Singapore for the Earthshot Prize Awards.

During this trip, the father-of-three spoke about wanting to go further into specific issues than other members of the Royal Family.

William said: "Previously the family have been very much spotlighting brilliantly and going round and highlighting lots.

"I want to go a step further—I want to actually bring change."

The prince's visit to the food bank today could be seen as evidence of him "wanting to go a step further" than King Charles, after he launched his food waste project on Tuesday.

Taking to Instagram today, Prince William wrote: "Proud to work with the Manchester Peace Together Alliance to improve opportunities and outcomes for young people.

"The three-year commitment between The Royal Foundation and The Mayor of Greater Manchester brings the private sector on board for the first time, helping reduce youth violence and providing the first dedicated employment, skills and training programme for young people at risk of violence.

"While ‘Keeping It Real 24/7’ and hubs just like it are doing so much to support the people of Moss Side in Manchester."
