Prince Harry could be forced to make an awkward request to King Charles upon his return to the UK.
The Duke of Sussex is set to appear at a WellChild award ceremony on September 7.
Meghan Markle has decided against joining her husband at the charity event and will instead fly straight to Germany for the Invictus Games.
Harry will join his wife in Düsseldorf following his brief stay in the UK.

However, the prince will likely have to ask King Charles for permission to stay at one of the Royal Family's residences.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex no longer have a base in the UK after the King evicted them from Frogmore Cottage earlier this year.
If Prince Harry does not wish to stay at a royal residence, he could seek to source private accommodation for his stay in September.
The WellChild awards fall on the eve of the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's death.
The late Queen died peacefully at Balmoral in Scotland on September 8 2022.
The Royal Family is not holding a public event to mark the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's death.
King Charles is expected to mark the first anniversary of his mother's death privately at the Balmoral estate.
It is therefore unlikely that Prince Harry will see his father during his brief visit to the UK.
