Donald Trump praised King Charles as a 'wonderful guy'

GB News' Royal Correspondent Cameron Walker has provided his exclusive insight into a potential royal trip to Washington, DC, the Princess of Wales's fashion and the Queen perhaps coordinating her outfit with Melania Trump.

Are the royals heading to the White House?

On Air Force One, flying back to Washington, DC, after a successful two-day State Visit, President Trump couldn't hide his glee.

He praised King Charles as a "wonderful guy" while speaking to reporters over the Atlantic Ocean, and said he got to know His Majesty "very well".

It appears the President of the United States has caught royal fever; The Telegraph reports the White House is set to invite King Charles to Washington, DC, next year.

The United States will celebrate 250 years of independence from Great Britain in July 2026, and it appears President Trump wants the United Kingdom and the Royal Family, front and centre.

The royal trip across the pond is in the early stages of planning, according to a White House official speaking to the publication.

If the trip goes ahead, it would be a further diplomatic coup for the United Kingdom, bringing the country closer to the United States via His Majesty's so-called soft power.

The Royal Family is very popular with American citizens, and it is likely many will travel to the United States capital to catch a glimpse of President Trump's guests.

However, King Charles still receives a weekly cycle of cancer treatment, and it is unclear if he will be well enough next year to travel on a long-haul flight.

Perhaps, therefore, the baton will fall to the Prince and Princess of Wales to represent the King, following on from their successful trip to Boston in 2022 for Prince William's Earthshot Prize.

American publications and social media were awash with images of the pair at the State Banquet on Wednesday night, with the Princess of Wales looking especially regal in a golden gown and a tiara.

Perhaps the youth and the glamour of the future King and Queen could further cement the United Kingdom on the world stage as they connect with every generation.

President Trump, who sat next to the Princess of Wales during the State Banquet, was particularly taken with her, describing Catherine as "radiant, healthy and beautiful."

When I travelled with Prince William and Catherine to Boston, I was struck by their a-list celebrity status; queues of screaming fans had waited hours to catch a glimpse of the duo.

Then, there is the inevitable Prince Harry and Meghan question - the King's youngest son is expected to still be living in California next July; would the King or Prince William pay the Sussexes a visit?

It is unlikely Prince Harry and Meghan would travel to Washington, DC, or be invited to any White House-organised events; President Trump is not a big fan of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

If a royal visit to the USA is on the cards, you can be sure GB News will provide you with the very latest coverage and analysis.

Buckingham Palace has been approached for comment.

The Princess of Wales's star shines bright

I am still not over THAT outfit, worn by the Princess of Wales during this week's State Banquet in honour of President Trump, and neither is the internet.

Her Royal Highness wore a couture gown by British designer Phillipa Lepley with a full-length, hand-embroidered gold Chantilly lace evening coat over a silk crepe gown.

The coat was hand-embroidered with couched gold cording roses, accented with French knots and satin-stitched blooms.

I understand the Princess is incredibly keen to support British craftsmanship, creativity and the fashion industry; pictures of her wearing the dress were beamed around the world - landing on millions of social media feeds.

To accessorise, the Princess wore earrings that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Mary's Lover's Knot Tiara (famously worn by Princess Diana), the Royal Family Order of King Charles III, the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II, and Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order with Star and Sash.

President Trump was particularly taken with Catherine, and the two appeared to enjoy each other's company.

The pair were photographed smiling at each other at the State Banquet.

I also understand the President and First Lady had a private meeting with the Prince and Princess of Wales inside Windsor Castle on Wednesday, described as "warm and friendly" by a source.

Kensington Palace declined to tell us what they talked about.

Did the Queen and FLOTUS coordinate their outfits to support Ukraine?

Since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, both the Queen and Melania Trump have shown support for innocent citizens caught up in the conflict.

Her Majesty has been visibly moved during engagements with the Ukrainian community in the UK, previously telling the wife of the Ukrainian ambassador: "We are praying for you".

She also invited Ukraine's First Lady, Olena Zelenska, to tea at Clarence House - discussing mutual values of freedom and democracy.

Meanwhile, the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, wrote a letter to Vladimir Putin, asking him to consider the impact his war is having on the children of Ukraine.

Then, on Wednesday, Queen Camilla and Melania Trump walked side by side in the Royal Procession into St George's Hall for the State Banquet - looking remarkably like the Ukrainian flag.

Queen Camilla wore a royal blue silk marocain embroidered dress by Fiona Clare, a sapphire and diamond tiara, and the King's Family Order.

FLOTUS, meanwhile, wore a canary yellow off-the-shoulder gown with a lilac belt from Carolina Herrera.

Blue and yellow: the colours of Ukraine's national flag, worn by two of the most famous women on the planet.

The move has led to speculation as to whether Her Majesty and the First Lady coordinated their outfits to send a subtle message in support of the country.

King Charles, meanwhile, called out President Putin's "aggression" during his speech at the banquet.

Neither Buckingham Palace nor the White House has commented on the speculation, but whether it was deliberate or not, it has certainly helped put Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and the UK and the United States' ongoing support, back in the headlines.
