The Princess of Wales attended a Buckingham Palace garden party alongside Prince William on Tuesday.

Kate, 43, brought a splash of sunshine to the occasion in a vibrant yellow Emilia Wickstead dress complemented by a matching Philip Treacy hat.

This marked her first garden party appearance since May 2023, following a period of reduced royal duties whilst she underwent cancer treatment last year.

The princess appeared in good spirits as she mingled with guests on the palace lawn, having recently celebrated her 14th wedding anniversary with Prince William on April 29.

For her garden party return, the Princess of Wales chose a deeply sentimental accessory - the diamond Robinson Pelham earrings she wore on her wedding day in April 2011.

The glittering earrings, a custom gift from her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, feature oak leaves with a pear-cut diamond drop and a suspended diamond acorn at the centre.

These symbols reflect the Middleton family coat of arms granted shortly before her marriage to Prince William.

Kate has worn these meaningful earrings only a handful of times since her wedding, including at the Order of the Garter Service in 2016 and Easter in 2019, making yesterday's choice particularly poignant.

The garden party was attended by several members of the Royal Family alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales, including Prince Edward, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester, Birgitte, the Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall.

These traditional events have been held by the British royals since the 1860s as a way to recognise outstanding community members and meet people from all walks of life.

The palace lawn provided a picturesque setting for the Princess of Wales to engage with guests, demonstrating her return to public-facing duties following her health challenges last year.

During the garden party, Prince William and Princess Kate spent meaningful time with the family of Liz Hatton, a talented young photographer who died in November 2024 at just 17 years of age.

Hatton had battled desmoplastic small round cell tumour, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

The teen had previously formed a connection with the Princess of Wales through her "photography bucket list" project.

Their relationship developed after Hatton was invited to photograph one of Prince William's investiture ceremonies at Windsor Castle.

The royal couple's personal interaction with Hatton's loved ones highlighted the Princess's continued commitment to causes close to her heart despite her own health challenges.
