The Prince and Princess of Wales were spotted in Windsor at the weekend

Princess Kate's pressure to remain in the public eye following her abdominal surgery has been compared to the pressure Princess Diana faced in her years as a royal.

This comes as the Prince and Princess of Wales were spotted out and about in Windsor at the weekend, following Kate's controversy over her edited Mother's Day photo.

The photo, which sparked widespread speculation about the health and whereabouts of the Princess, forced the royal to make a statement on social media to apologise for "any confusion caused" by the photoshopped image.

Since the scandal, rumours have been rife online about the true condition and location of the Princess of Wales, as royal fans continue to speculate about her wellbeing.

Reacting to the latest sighting of the Princess in Windsor, commentator Kinsey Schofield told GB News she was "surprised" by the sighting and said Kate looks "happy, healthy and beautiful".

Schofield defended the Prince and Princess in regards to the photos being taken and published by The Sun and TMZ, she said she is "grateful to see them", but hoped "they are okay with the pictures being taken of them".

Host Eamonn Holmes questioned if the pictures of the couple in Windsor had been "deliberately put out there" by Kensington Palace to squash speculation about the Princess, to which Schofield claimed they could have been a "strategy", and explains why the children "aren't with them".

Schofield noted: "I think there is a reason why the children aren't with them. If this is in fact a strategy that they're trying to use to hush some of the international scandal, the international conversation, surely that's something that they wouldn't want their children to be involved in."

The Sun also claimed that the Prince and Princess were spotted at "sporting events throughout the weekend" with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Host Isabel Webster compared the pressure facing Princess Kate to her late Mother-in-Law Princess Diana, claiming that the "hounding" of Kate "echoes the hounding of Diana" with the paparazzi.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Schofield agreed, responding: "I think in this case, replace cameras with keyboards and you are seeing the same kind of pulling and demanding of a woman who doesn't owe us anything. They specifically told us, which I thought was a privilege in January, she's gone under the knife for this abdominal surgery, do not expect to see her until Easter.

"Doctor's orders are that she recovers, and that she takes this time to recuperate. And instead of allowing her the grace to just privately recover in peace, what we're seeing and even with I think the Mother's Day photo was them kind of giving in to social media pressure, which is unfortunate because these two are analytically the most popular members of the British Royal Family."

Isabel warned that the releasing of the new images of Kate could return the "increased appetite for snaps" and seeing more pictures that aren't official being put on the front of newspapers again.

Discussing the couple's right to privacy, Schofield said they were "in a position to set their own rules" prior to the photo scandal, and the Mother's Day photo "jeopardised their ability to control their schedules so much".

Schofield added: "But I do believe we are hounding her and demanding things of her that are none of our business. And I feel real sympathy for her.

"The people that are mocking it and making fun of it, I think that they are going to feel real guilt if and when we find out the truth behind her illness."
