The York sisters have maintained their popularity amid the recent resurgence in attention om their father

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have been noted by a royal commentator for having “done nothing wrong” amid the media storm surrounding their father, Prince Andrew.

The Duke of York made headlines in recent weeks after a series of claims about his life were published in a new royal biography.

Author Andrew Lownie's biography, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, contains explosive allegations regarding Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, the mother of Beatrice and Eugenie.

Royal commentator Jennie Bond sympathised with the York sisters for bearing the storm of “lurid” claims made against their father.

“For his two daughters, this latest slew of lurid allegations must be hard to take,” the commentator observed.

However, the former BBC royal correspondent felt they would be able to weather the storm based on their handling of the scandal and enduring popularity.

“They have done nothing wrong and are popular with the rest of the family — and with much of the public," Ms Bond told The Mirror.

Her analysis echoed that of Ingrid Seward, the biographer of Sarah Ferguson, who felt the York daughters will be "finding this very difficult – it's a horrid time".

"I'm not surprised they haven't come out and said anything in his defence. For his girls to show their solidarity publicly wouldn't benefit them in any way," Seward told The Daily Mail.

A source close to the family of Beatrice and Eugenie has said they have been left "utterly mortified" by the new book saga.

They suggested that the global interest in the book has been greater than they anticipated and has further affected their relationship with Prince Andrew.

"They're keeping a distance from (their) dad," the source told the publication.

Recent polling showed that the York sisters had maintained a favourable reputation among the British public amid the recent scandal.

This was in contrast to their father, who has seen his favourability ratings plummet since his disastrous Newsnight interview in 2019.

Andrew has maintained a torrid reputation, with only seven per cent of respondents to the August YouGov poll regarding him positively.

Beatrice and Eugenie have fared much better, receiving generally positive feedback in polls even as renewed interest has emerged in claims against their father.

In light of his rock bottom favourability, Ms Bond advised the Duke of York that his “best course of action is to lie low”.

She implored him to “enjoy the immensely privileged lifestyle he still has, embrace his family life, and do as his brother asks.”

Ms Bond added: “If he is still invited to family gatherings, he would do well to forego the protocol of walking in order of precedence and fade quietly into the background.

“In other words: show a bit of humility, Andrew, because we haven’t seen a shred of it yet.”
