Princess Charlotte stunned fans with her “confidence” during the Christmas festive celebrations at Sandringham, according to a royal correspondent.
The young princess was seen spending time with well-wishers and interacting with the public without older members of the Royal Family as she grows into her role.
One moment which almost went unnoticed was Charlotte putting her arm around her big brother's back, lightly tapping it in a subtle moment of reassurance.
The move is often made by her mother, Princess Kate, with Prince William when the couple are out in public.

Former BBC royal correspondent, Jennie Bond, noted how the young royal handled herself on such an important day for the Firm.
She noted: “The children are an absolute delight to see at occasions like this. I think William and Catherine have done a wonderful job in acclimatising all three children to public life.
“I was struck, in particular, by how confident young Charlotte seemed on Christmas Day.
“She was launching into the crowd by herself, no longer with her mother’s guiding hand on her shoulder, chatting with the well-wishers who’d gathered.
“Bending down to shake hands with wheelchair users, and even giving one or two members of the crowd a big hug.”

Video footage shared on social media captured the young royal agreeing to pose for a selfie when asked by a member of the public.
"Can we have a photo with you?" one fan enquired, to which Charlotte responded: "Yes," before moving closer for the picture.
The moment quickly spread across social platforms, with the princess seen shaking hands and offering festive greetings to those who had turned out to see the royals.

Ms Bond continued: “I think the Prince and Princess of Wales are doing a sterling job in giving the press and public just enough access to the children to satisfy curiosity.
“But I’m sure that their main priority is their children’s well-being and how comfortable they do or don’t feel with attending public events, and I think that will continue to be their strategy.
“So we’ll no doubt see the whole family out and about at a few occasions in the coming year, but it’s way too early for them to be on more frequent public display,” she concluded to the Mirror.
